there are tens of millions of people that simply dont want to game on pc........for whatever reason. there are plenty of valid ones.
of those people there are going to be plenty that want to much better advantage of their shiny new 4k tv that is cheaper and cheaper everyday......by the time scorpio comes out you will be able to get a 60" 4k for like 699....
curious what gpu do you have? you act like your pc is old, but xbox one is also 4 years old....
i game on pc, and just bought a ftw evga 1080 upgraded from 980ti sc before that 980......im not afraid to waste money i guess.
anyway i will be tempted to get scorpio. just so i can"
"xbox volume up"
play madden
play nhl
play any fps multiplayer on controller without getting killed by mouse keyboard users...
Buy a game and trade it in a month later when its still worth 80% of new price.
play 4k blue ray movie(maybe).
and not to mention the games just work...
i can name many pc games that i had to wait for a fix or even to be released.
@runstalker: i have a 2015 sony 4k 65 850b........sony is known as having the best upscaler. samsung right there now i guess......in any case every single game xbox one game looked strickingly better on the 4k and this was almost 2 years ago when a lot of games were not 1080p on xbox.....in fact had i not ordered my gaming pc and tv at the same time i would have probably never bought the gaming pc......as far as 1080p mode i dont even know what that means.....
if you give it any signal it upscales it to 4k there is no 1080p force mode
@jako998: i believe scorpio will be last successful console for ms and marginal......ps4 will be able to do ps5 say 2-3 years from now and be true 4k 60fps unlike neo not even close....that might be a big enough leap with the 4k tv market having increased and ps4 and neo users itching for new technology. the leap from scorpio to say a true 4k 60fps will be very marginal in the eyes of most consumers....3k at 60fps vs 4k at 60fps not noticeable really....especially to mom buying a console for young "Tanner". With sonys ps4 base they can have success with ps5.........i think scorpio will indeed have good success as the best box on the market, but as soon as ps5 comes out ms will be in trouble hardware wise again.....at that point. say 2018 or 19 i think the hardware wars are over for quite awhile.......it will be interesting if ms decides to bring out incremental hardware upgrades after scorpio to compete. my guess is no....
@rogue81: probably not......go to digital foundry great article saying probably the next line of cards from amd...vega......it will be a performance and efficiency jump......and this card even overclocked would not fit any scorpio goals other than teraflops.
@HedleyLamarr: they both will blow 1080 60fps out of the water....scorpio is basically a 980ti but will run more optimized on console platform 980ti benchmarks of 1080p are hard to find cause that wasnt even an issue........or a question....not sure why you would question that when its being marketed at 4k 60fps....probably the most taxing game on ultra recently has been the witcher 3 and digital foundy did a 1080p test on the 980ti and got rock solid 80fps....again i believe scorpio will perform better than 980ti. the question is will it do 4k at 60.......more likely 2 or 3k but that is good enough and a huge leap over ps4 or xbox one.....
@dexda: microsoft stock at almost all time high or at least since 86 on my chart.......how are they "Yeah because it had Microsoft behind it at a time when Microsoft was flush with cash. Microsoft have fallen quite a way since then"
@louixiii: 8k is overkill......will not take off because of consumer demand.....visually you cant see the difference from 4k and 8k in any practical application related to at home use......you would need to sit closer than 2 feet to notice any difference from 4k on a 65" screen.....id say once you get to 3k(scorpio) any box is future proof in home use as related to resolution......its just science. the human eye is limited......im not saying 8k wont happen...but 4k is taking off super slow and you can visually see a difference(some people really cant or dont care). 8k tvs might be out. but no console box will need to push 8k for any consumer need.....now a box might need to upgrade to be able to take advantage of more effect, larger more detailed environments, more npcs, etc......imagine gta5 with every building being fully accessible and the entire city populated as a 1-1 ratio to an actual city....no way a developer is going to give up resources on a box to go from 4k to 8k....in the next 10 years.
