She doesn't seem to have a page on wikipedia. That means she must be either very new, very bad, or very unknown (until now that is).

To the rescue! PARTAY

Thank you, but I've already seen it. It's still no wikipedia page, and it leaves some questions to be answered.

I can't tell if this is supposed to be an earnest song or as a parody, but it's not good at all at being either.

Stalingrad. It was the singlemost violent battle in the history of mankind (it still is today) and was the turning point of WWII.

Verge_6

Have we ever determined just how many civilian lives were lost during that battle? The best statistics I found was 40,000 during the opening salvos.

People sure love to exaggerate. It's what satire and parody is all about (even though I love The Onion's frequent jabs at the network).

[QUOTE="Harisemo"]

[QUOTE="l0ve"]Osama was never even a real person, just some CIA agent in a disguise. How do you find that which doesn't exist. That or hes in Atlantis riding around in a UFO.kuraimen

a CIA agent that has been fighting shoulder to shoulder with other mujahideen? riiiiiiiiight lol

Actually the US helped train and gave supplies to the mujahideen during the Soviet war in Afghanistan and OBL was one of them

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_Invasion_of_Afghanistan#Foreign_involvement_and_aid_to_the_mujahideen

"To watch the courageous Afghan freedom fighters battle modern arsenals with simple hand-held weapons is an inspiration to those who love freedom."

— U.S. President Ronald Reagan, March 21, 1983

LOL, funny how they turn from courageous freedom fighters to cave-dwelling camel-humping terrorists at US's convenience.Another proof that the word "freedom" for the US government is just a term used to further their hypocritical agenda.

It's no worse than what China and the Soviet Union did during Korea and Vietnam. It was simply what was politically expedient at the time of "rollback" and to a certain degree geopolitical "vengence". And then it turned out that much of the mujahideen were dubious allies at best, and then turned against the U.S. Allies can become enemies faster than you can imagine. It's nothing hypocritical, it's just politics and business as usual among world powers.

[QUOTE="Pirate700"]:| You can't be serious.

weezyfb

No, I'm sure that's serious talk right there. Not that it is any less ridiculous and false.

1. Regardless of what you might here on conspiracy theory blogs and similar websites, the Bin Ladens were NOT flown out of the U.S., at least not during the time that all planes were grounded following 9/11.

regardless, they were not even asked anything or questioned ... just flown out, many people have a problem with that

They disowned OBL in 1994, long before any of this happened.

2. U.S. special forces and Afghan allies suspected that OBL was hiding in the mountainous cave complexes of Tora Bora, not exactly easy terrain to navigate, pretty far away from the Northern Alliances remaining territory, and pretty easy to fortify against hostile forces. By the time they reached the area in December 2001, they were probably close to cornering OBL, but given the tense situation, as well as unknown enemy strength and potential for high casualties, by the time they cleared the area, OBL had already escaped into Pakistan. So it is suspected, as of course, it's impossible to be sure in such circumstances.

OBL was given 4 months, plenty of time to escape

And how else would you propose killing him, deep in such hostile, fortified, and treacherous territory? There's a certain sense of planning and care that goes into military operations. It's not something you can just launch and complete in a few weeks. The fact that it took less than a month to get started on Afghanistan is about as good as you would have gotten back then.

Even though I did excellent in high school, I did even better in college. What I have to say in particular is that the performance evaluation is much more objective.

In every course you take, you should have an outline that goes over what you will be covering, what you will be graded based upon, the classroom rules, etc. Nothing more, and nothing less. And even then, some university professors can be pretty flexible in adjusting the schedule and responsive to student demand, although this is not always a good thing.

Nevertheless, I found it nothing like my high school, where I swear I never even knew what my quarterly grades were based upon. Further, there's no administrators coming after you for attendance issues, no busy work, and no hall pass required.

That said, prepare to be responsible for your own work, and making your own decisions. This might be harder or easier for different people, but in university, much more intensive time and work management is key.

Battle of Stalingrad. Lasted several months, over a million people dead and the turning point on the eastern front (and the entire war).

redstorm72

Didn't Stalingrad last nearly a year?

According to wikipedia it lasted:

17 July 1942 – 2 February 1943

It also says small pockets of German resistance held out until March. So I suppose at least 6 months, but anywhere up to about 8 months.
