@iandizion713: wasn't hard at all for me to walk into Target and get to see one. My local Best Buy had like 9 of them at one point last month! This is primarily coming off Splatoon 2, or Splatoon-Port-But-We-Are-Clever-So-We-Call-It-A-Sequel-2.
@yukushi: Most will buy a Switch to play console games on the go, replacing their 3DS systems, especially adults who owned the 3DS for console gaming on the go. The primary owner in the US owns a PS4 for gaming at home, and a 3DS for gaming on the go. Switch will get them to replace their 3DS, but not likely the PS4. Expect more and more used 3DS systems to show up in GameStops and other places the next year or two, especially after Pokemon makes the Switch to Switch.
@mariokart64fan: Nintendo turned profitable in 2015 after 3 years of losses (started after the launch of 3DS in 2011, as their first loss was posed in April of 2012, 6 months prior to Wii U's debut). That ironically was off the back of Wii U from Splatoon/Super Mario Maker flying off shelves. Those have some high attach rates, because they were the reasons people bought Wii U, especially in Japan.
@martintule24: it wasn't exclusive, so you made the right choice waiting. Plus, GameStop reported something like a 300% increase in used Wii U's in March- gee, what hit the Wii U in March of 2017? I wonder...
@alistairbrogan: Just wait until early next year when Switch is into its 2nd year, and I can guarantee it's either getting a revision, or some kind of bundle that will make it worth it, because the Zelda hype will only last so long, and Mario will be big in the holidays, but it's the time after that the game market goes back to reality (March is usually a dead month for game systems).
@doctor_mg: plus, this isn't outside the US, Canada isn't known, Mexico isn't known. We know Nintendo left Brazil, so they got 0 Switch systems there. PS4 could have outsold it in North/South America.
@derangel: and Sony rarely reveals it unless it hits a major milestone. Just like the PS2 number of 155 is debatable, because Sony never revealed anything after it hit 150. Fanboys are using VGEstimates (VGChartz) to say 155 when there is no solid proof it actually sold that many. Sony just said it hit 150 million, the first ever to do so (Nintendo DS also did 150, but Nintendo actually confirmed 154.1 million, so that's a given, and because Sony never officially said 155, Nintendo clearly has the highest selling system confirmed by the manufacturer).
@doctor_mg: NPD can't track worldwide sales, because some like China have illegal sales going on there. You're dependent on the manufacturer to release it, or some tracker for that specific country.
