This isn't really mean, but I lets say that I had taken some skittles and was still rolling when I came home....I kept giving my parents hugs and telling how much I loved them..they got weirded out when I took my shirt off and started rolling around on the carpet tho haha...But on topic, I've told my parents numerous times to "ef off", they came back with a "I hope you die, we never loved you, go kill yourself etc" response...ahhh the daysss

People need to learn to live their own life. My parents wanted me to join the military right out of highschool and I refused and did my own thing. Do what makes you happy, not what makes others happy, that is the ONLY way to live a happy life. Find something you like to do that you can make some money at, for me its IT Security. Others its teaching, mechanics, radiologists, or whatever... you get my point.

I couldn't help, but chuckle when I read this..I'm having the exact opposite of this..I'm enlisting in the Army in 6 months, and my parents have known that I would for numerous years, at first they just stopped talking to me, even around the house, then it got to the point of them talking trash on veterens, and how military service is for deadbeats....now they've accepted it....funny how that works..

Um, according to my parents (particularly my mom) I, right now, need to know exactly what I'll be doing when I grow up or else I'll "fail" in life (I'm a junior in high school). Not only that but they say I need to be a doctor in order to make it in the real world. This is their excuse to pushing me into med school and forcefully laying everything out for me, and if I don't comply with that they won't support me in any way financially--not with education or anything.

All of these beliefs are truly ridiculous but there's seriously no point in trying to convince them otherwise because they either 1) won't listen, 2) make things up completely to support their claim, 3) assume they know things and/or 4) assume I'm always wrong.

For some reason my mom has this warped belief that if I don't live up to the "best of the best" in my class I'll be some sort of "loser" and "living from paycheck-to-paycheck." And believe me, I'm far from it--I have a 3.3 GPA and scored a 26 on my ACT.

But it's not like I don't try really hard in school. I have ADHD and I believe that's the reason why I study twice (at the very least) as hard as anyone else I know who take the same classes as me. So far I've done 5 AP classes and 5 honors and it has always been too much to handle. You're right in saying that it's not my decision to challenge or pressure myself this much, but you can guess whose it is.

The thing is my parents don't believe me in saying that I work hard. Unfortunately enough they only point out the times I DON'T study (basically when I don't need to or have anything important coming up) and claim that I never do. It's hard enough to have this thrown upon me when all I seem to do is study and work hard, with seemingly nothing else to live for.

It all comes down to me having to go to medical school, my main issue with all this and the real hole that I'm in. It's enough pressure to be expected to perform beyond my own ability, but to go into a field that I'm truly uninterested in...it's just grueling.

I wouldn't expect any of you to relate to this predicament, but ANY kind of idea or guidance would be of great assistance to me.

Tell your parents that you need to talk to them and have an actual "sit down, formal discussion" and tell them how you feel..For me "high education" has never been the "thing"..my older brother is a paramedic on his way to becoming a firefighter and I'm enlisting in the Army in about 6 months...Neither of us wanted "desk jobs" or be stuck working a 9 to 5 job....Point being that you need to tell your parents how you feel and don't let them tell you what to do..

ya, but I know that I need a new psu BEFORE I make any upgrades...I was thinking of this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182072 I eventually wanna add another 5830...and it would murder my 600 watt

Looks pretty - but i havnt had too much experience with Rosewill . . Im more of an Enermax fan - how bout THIS one.?

EDIT - the 5830 requires only a 600watt PSU to run CF - ur current PSU may do just fine? I wouldnt buy a new one out of speculation.

I used the "power supply calculator" on newegg, and according to it, if I add another 5830 It reccommends a 742 watt psu.. So I'm thinking that I go for something in the 800-850 range..

but the one i wanted that i mentioned earlier was...http://www.ebuyer.com/product/190673

is an extra £20 worth it for an extra 0.2ghz?

razz2k8
not really..only reason I got a 965 instead of a 955 was because it was on sale..You can always overclock it, if you have a decent cpu cooler....

if you wan't the best performance boost, it would be best to get another 5830, but i think you'd better upgrade your PSU to 800W or higher... i would even try with 600W. you'd just fry it : ]

groowagon
hmm, any recommendations for a psu then? And I figure regardless of any upgrade I get, I should upgrade my psu...

So, I got about $125 to spend on an upgrade for my computer and I need suggestions. I was thinking to get a good CPU cooler since its summer and mine runs pretty hot (sometimes reaching 60C). But I still have a really open mind.

My current specs are:

-AMD x4 965 @ 3.2ghz

-4 gig OCZ

-320HDD

-gigabyte 5830

-cooler master 600 watt

My current ideas, are

1. Getting a decent CPU cooler, as I hear the x4 965's can hit 4ghz with a decent cooler.

2. Saving for another month or so and getting another 5830 ( but I'm not sure if my psu could handle it)

3.another HDD

So what do you suggest? Links would be appreciated :)
