I think he woud love to believe it himself. No disrespect to Activision, a long running publisher, but comments like these make me chuckle.
Skylanders a risk... sort of. An 18 month franchise which will be seeing it's 3rd entry this winter.
Guitar Hero... Harmonix took the risk before Activision picked up an already succesful franchise.
Destiny is about as sure a bet as you could possibly find right now, and I'm sorry to say that I am not interested in anything they have announced so far...
The last Activision game I bought was Tranformers: War on Cybertron, and that was released in 2010. Sort of an indicative?
@DarkSaber2k @Mevrick @kagento @CCGR_Pheonix But you're not paying extra... I believe you're not getting it. PC is always cheaper than console. If it were split into DLC they could have done 4 packs (or whatever amount) of this for 15$/10$ each, so it's basically the same thing. Adding the game as well will obviously bring new players as well as those that want the expansion.
Do you know what an expansion pack even is?
I really do not understand what is the problem you see... You're not paying more. You're paying exactly what you would have paid otherwise. Why is it so difficult to grasp?
I think that what many people fear of a digital only system is that the sense of ownership will be demolished. I can get that, but there are good ways to proceed with this. Steam's model is good, but it still fails in that sense of ownership. However, most small indie games are offering a DRM free purchase, which to me solves the problem. I can understand the fancy of having a box with a disc and some nice booklet, but if all digital titles behaved like the GOG version of Witcher 2, people would feel more relieved (apart from the game, more extras than any physical special edition might have had).
Of course, the big console manufacturers wouldn't be to keen on the idea, and as such there will continue to be games with some sort of DRM or "unlimited rental" feel, but if there are devs willing to make their game DRM free and people buy it because of that, there will be more.
The biggest problem with online games is that when the servers die, the game will die unless devs release the code or patch it, and that is the biggest elephant in the room in my opinion.
@DarkSaber2k @CCGR_Pheonix The expansion on PC is ONLY the expansion and it costs 30$. In consoles you would have got the increased price; normally 10$ more. Basically you're saying that for the same price they are offering the whole game, expansion and DLCs you would just want the expansion?
Come on! Most companies would have made a 60$ release.
