@savagerodent: Not saying AC is better than Souls, I like Souls better myself. Just saying Souls needs new themes, that's why I brought up AC, because Creed changes its theme every game.
Souls needs to change its theme every game as well, they've been doing the medieval thing way too long, 4 games using the exact same theme is too many.
Call of Duty left WW2 ages ago, Assassin's Creed left medieval era ages ago, Zelda started out as a side scroller, then topdown, then third person, then realistic, then cartoony, then back to top down.
Point being, games need to adapt to stay relevant.
@Mabrry: Yeah technically its different, but its the same shit. I've seem that same armor same shield and same bridge over a million times. Kite shield, knight Helm, Rapier, blah, blah, blah.
The main Souls franchise peaked at 2 and now is just recycled.
Bloodborne was a great move to do a gothic version of souls, they need to make more Bloodborne revisions.
The idea is that people don't wanna play the same thing over more than twices. By the 4th game you must create a new world with new characters, like Assassin's Creed, they left Medieval Knights by the forth game.
@suicidesn0wman: All the more reason to switch it up. Samurai theme, Arabian theme, the list goes on and on, there was an entire world that existed outside of the Medieval Knights world back in that time period.
China, Japan, Arabia, India, would all serve as a nice backdrop for Dark Souls games.
Assassin's Creed changes the setting and era every game. Trust me if you were still a Medieval Knight killing Templars, nobody would be playing Assassin's Creed. You can play as a Pirate, a Confederate, a French Revolutionist, etc, etc.
Dark Souls has you playing the exact same dungeons the exact same armor as the exact same character for 4 games now. Yes this the 4th Dark Souls game.
N3DS has only 1 exclusive retail game Xenoblade with no other to be announced. Its only purpose was enhanced 3D performance.
Splintering the market has never paid off in the long run, because developers make games based on attach rate, not system power, they will almost always choose the higher attach rate version of the console to develop for.
This is a very bad idea if Sony chooses to go this route, punishes early adopters and splinters the market with little to nothing to show for, since most devs will skip the new console exclusives anyway.
