[QUOTE="keither_04"][QUOTE="Wabbit5"][QUOTE="DBhova23"]Crysis is suppose to be the best looking game ever when it is released.. so do u believe that Killzone if released this year will have to surpass Crysis in graphical features to be a successful AAA game?matttrd
thats a good question, and im glad everyone here has played both games to say whats what
Owned, lol. Nice.
Lets see he asked whether or not we believed that a game would have to graphically surpass another in order to achieve a AAA status. Which is an interesting question in this day and age.
At no point did he ask for graphical comparrisons or attempt to debate the topic so both of you managed to as you so kindly put it to Own yourselves.
Owned. :P Sorry, couldn't resist.

your wrong, P stands for progessive which is talking about temporal resolution not pixel resolution. the P has nothign to do with teh siz of the image its talkign abotu how the image is refreshed on the screen. I meanign interlaced means that the Tv is displaying every other line every other frame. P means its displaying all teh lines everyframe. so 24P means its displaying 24 FULL frames ever second . so no its deosnt mean teh PS3 is goin to diplsay 24 horizontal lines instead of 1080. 24P is the correct turn. trust me i work with this video stuff everyday at work.
it means if buy an HDTv later this summer that can input a 24P signal , then the PS3 will output any blu ray disc that is 24P. which means smoothe rmotion for blu ray movies and a more film liek experience.
Please refrain from saying "24p" as this is going to confuse many people; if this were true, it would mean that the PS3 now displays Blu-ray movies with 24 horizontal lines of resolution as opposed to 1080 lines of resolution. The correct terms are Hz (Hertz, which means 'cycles per second') or FPS (frames per second).

And I suppose that since the PS3 is capable of displaying media in 1080p, using your logic, it would be displaying 1080 "FULL frames ever second", despite the fact that there are no screens with a refresh rate that high. Look, I don't want to argue, it's just that what you are saying is inaccurate to my knowledge. You are right in claiming that "p" means progressive (meaning every line) and "i" means interlaced (every other line). However, the number before the "p" or "i" is how many lines are being displayed progressively or interlaced. This is where our disagreement lies.
Ok i work at a visual effects company. i work with HD tapes called D5 , do you know what that is? no i didint think so. when the tapes come in from the production companys they are labled 59.94I or 24P or 60I. THey are talking about the frame rated NOT THE RESOLUTION !!! so when we set our SONY D5 deck to read the tape we have to tell the deck it is playign back at 24P or 59.94I so its will sync correctly. so really it should be 1080/24p or 720/59.94I . THey put 1080P for all you consumers cause they think you are to dumb to understand all the different HD frame rates cause there isnt a set standard yet, and you just prooved their point.
OWNED!haha, why thank you, i love that feeling.
Alright, I admit defeat, although I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't rub it in. After reading your post, what you are saying is beginning to make sense. However, I am having trouble figuring out why this terminology wasn't used in the first place. I am by no means "too dumb" to understand the HD frame rates you described, and I'm only 17 years old. I think it would have been wise for companies to explain the "i" and "p" as you have done, as it would lead to a higher knowledge base for consumers who are interested in such things.
...You learn something new everyday. ;)
