@Birth_By_Sorrow FF has always been turn based until recently, and for this particular series it clearly is a better fit, as those older games have been and continue to be, viewed as much better games because they had the total package. Let the spin offs stay that way, keep the numbered FF's RPG's, that's what they are supposed to be, anything else is an utter betrayal of the real fans that support the series all those years, plain and simple.

@-Saigo- Believe it. It's Microsoft, easily one of the most hated, and justifiably vilified companies on the planet. They just happen to now make consoles too :).

The 3DS picked up when two things happened:

@rawkstar007 You should be. sarcasm/ Western fans love them some action baby! In everything! Thinking and strategy sucks, because you can automate pressing X! Heck you can automate any game till it plays itself, because that's the future broski. / sarcasm.

FF XV is an action game with some light rpg elements. The combat and turn based mechanics the series was famed for, and for good reason, has been abandoned because they took a spin off and rebranded it to save money instead of making a proper turn based FF rpg. This will furhter alienate the real fans who grew up playing FF 1-10. This plays like an action game because it is one. What a shame.

It's morphing right over to wiiu and ps4.

@feverberries @keldarironfist @BoredGames Dark souls (I prefer demons souls so far), is a dungeon crawler, albeit a fantastic one. It is the spiritual successor to Kings field, which was VERY slow paced.

These are two different genres. Action RPG is a misnomer really, it just means its an action game with some light statistical elements. Core FF's should remain turn based. They haven't delivered because they are trying to be something they are not.

It just happens to be that Square's biggest internal franchise is in a genre that happens to be very out of fashion and modern gameplay tastes (tastes which I happen to think are atrocious really). I imagine for the sake of money they will continue the trend of raping this brand name into the ground for the sake of "keeping up with joneses".

@feverberries @keldarironfist @BoredGames With how far afield JRPG's have gone, bringing things back to propper FF roots, would be refreshing frankly. But the modern gamers doesn't want anything that isn't ADD riddled actiony crap. I understand why they are doing what they are doing, it's just been bad for a whole generation now, time for a change.

@feverberries @keldarironfist @BoredGames I am familiar, and was ok (I guess) with it when it was a side game. A canon Final fantasy has been for most of the time and should always be a turn based RPG. I am stunned that people would argue otherwise. It shows how far off the beaten path gaming tastes have really come. It's sad to see.

@Hakumen21 Kingdom hearts isn't an RPG its an action game with light RPG elements where bop people with a fucking key. I am sorry but real final fantasy games are turn based, and have been for most of the series. These are regarded as the best in the series too, no coincidence there. Yes the graphics and world seem really great, but the whole thing looked like pure action. FF needs to get back to its core turn based JRPG roots, as unfashionable as that may be in a world of dumbed down MMO style jrpgs.
