I have a i7 920 cpu with a gtx 295 video card and vista home edition.

I know i can't use dx11 with that video card. is there a fairly cheap video card I can ADD to the gtx 295 in order to be able to use dx11 in games? in other words I want to be able to use the power of the gtx295 along with a dx11 compliant card rather than scrap the gtx295 card altogether, if that would really speed up games (otherwise I'd just scrap the gtx295 card).

also does vista allow for dx11 games or do i have to get windows7? if so, how do I add windows7 and keep al my files, photos, vids etc that I was using with my vista? please be specific bc I know VERY LITTLE about computers!

are there many games using dx11 in the upcoming year and will it make a fairly large difference graphically? thanks

sorry what doyou mean by a PPU?

maybe i can keep the card and get another in a couple of years to use with it? i guess you guys are saying dx11 is not so different from dx10 or that there won't be any dx11 games out for a long while

well that 's not good news! After spending all that money for the graphics card!

do you think dx11 will be much of an improvement over dx10? is it worth getting another graphics card in a year or so? do you think many games will use dx11 fairly soon? thanks

I bought a new comp with the gtx 295 several months ago. Can it use dx11 or will there be downloaded updates that will eventually allow dx11 for this card?

I have vista - I believe i heard that I can download an update which will allow for dx11, and that I don't need i7? how do I do this?

do you think dx11 will be much of an improvement over dx10? also with the 295 card can it already play dx10.1?

thanks

I just purchased a comp with vista 64 home premium. i've heard vista takes up a lot of memory--are there any items/programs i can delete and how do i do so (please be very specific as i am a newbie!).

also if i upgrade later to windows 7 can i just download it on top of vista or do i have to erase vista and then download windows7 ? how hard is it to save vista files on an external harddrive if that is necessary? is it dangerous to do this (might lose files, etc)? also will windows 7 be a major upgrade for use of games or should i stick with vista? thanks

and if someone can explain the crysis benchmarking in detail that he mentioned above so that i can do it, i would appreciate it.

i think there was a thread about a guy with similar configuration who was puzzled why his benchmarks in crysis were so low, I'd like to diagnose this in my own computer and make any changes for improvement

so I will know my fps BEFORE I run or open crysis, somewhere on the left upper corner of my desktop, if I run FRAPS? (I assumed I would know it in game, and it would be different for different games--some games would have a good fps and others not so much--I guess I was wrong) Thanks for your advice.

Any other comments please? much appreciated

I just bought a i7 920 with a gtx295 card. I am a newbie so please be very specific about what to do. how do I calculate fps for this game as well as empire total war, and what is the score that I want to reach realistically (also what resolution should I be playing at)?

is there any way to boost my fps?

i know next to nothing about computers, so don't think it is a good idea for me to overclock unless there is a VERY easy way to do so, like downloading a program that does it for me. do i need to overclock to get a high score, or does it not matter much? thanks
