It sucks that people are often incredible assholes. Some Web users forgo amicable disagreements more often that not. I wish it didn't happen the way it does. I would feel pleased to see positive change in what's so prevalent today. That said, I don't care that the creator is a woman. Some might, but I'd argue most don't. I didn't see an outrage over Kellee Santiago's work on Journey.
The reaction she is receiving really sucks. No doubt about it. But I still don't buy that her story deserves anymore attention than the rest of the [harshly] flamed. This video begs the question. If this game was perceived favorably, would it affect "Gender Wars?" I don't buy it for a second because "Gender Wars" would still be a relative non-issue. I argue most guys wouldn't be awestruck to learn a woman made their favorite game. It doesn't matter. I don't think sane people care.
Danny said the issue but merely as an argument to a conclusion I don't hold. The issue is that people are assholes. That's the premise of the issue, and I argue that's the "war."
@holtrocks @blackace @cf_Kage What I'd consider a "console killer" isn't what you would. I also highly doubt your claim of a $600 machine that trumps a console for years to come. I remember building a PC just before the Xbox 360 was released. When playing TES4:Oblivion, it held I higher frame rate, resolution, texture quality, post processing effects, etc. than the 360 version.
It did not play games beyond the 360 for more than a few years. It could run the games, sure, but it didn't typically perform at the level it did on consoles. Poor optimization and excessive Windows overhead had something to say. Overclocking my components helped for quite some time, but that's not a convenience factor. I work on computers for a living, and do not find it fun fighting heat and ensuring stability.
So I'd argue it is misleading to inform people that you'd build a console killer for that price. That price tag--which entails some hunting and waiting for deals for something actually worth it--is just the beginning, the price also entails more garbage releases rendering games almost unplayable, failing parts, time, troubleshooting.. along with easier susceptibility to malware, a dumb lack of integrated VoIP, and port forwarding. I love PC gaming, I have well over a hundred games on Steam alone. I love mods. But PC is a personal preference that comes at its own costs. It is not a utopia... not for $600, unless the consoles you're killing are from around 2006.
Fairly surprised at all the hate here on Titanfall, especially toward those shaming it because of EA. The development crew is funded by EA to create a game, and regardless of how good may be "damn it to HFIL"? Just Lol.
I think this looks great, although I haven't owned a Basketball game since 2K on Dreamcast. The graphics look nice. The arms don't seem to absorb enough light as they're a bit shiny, eyes stand out slightly too, but the graphics overall look phenomenal. The presentation is stellar. I can't honestly judge the AI based on a couple clips.
How much were some people expecting this to improve?
And the game looks beautiful for it (aside from the 10 times there was a rain storm on a cloudless, sunny day, without a rainbow in sight). I don't know how many times I've flown around in the game just to enjoy the view.
It will nice to see what it looks like when I can mod up some of the visuals on PC.
