If the headset uses 3.2mm connections there is no need for any drivers. I have the same headset and the mic and speakers work just fine on it. If it's USB, that is a different story.
PS/2 connections are those used on keyboards(purple) and mouses(green).
You may need drivers for your ON BOARD Audio device or your sound card(which ever you have).

WOrkstation cards do not game well at all. Your probably looking at low end GPU performance when buying a high end workstation card. Workstation cards are really good for floating point calculations.
Since he doesn't want to spend more then 2500$. I'd suggest people account for a moniter, speakers, a keyboard, a headset, probably a sound card and a mouse with a mouse pad. I'd suggest for the keyboard you get a lycosa, for the headset depending on how much you want to spend but stick to razer, a razer mamba mouse and a razer sphex mousepad. RedxSniper
Unless your an Audiophile, you don't need add-on sound cards these days since most motherboards especially for AMD3 and X58 include decent on board audio for up to 6 or 7 channels I believe.
Right so for me over in little old New Zealand the only reason "Steam" would be my best mate is what? mods for games? ;)Jared_AKA_God
Well, if you were a member of the SomeThingAwful forums, they have a system setup there so that people in other countries besides the US, can get games for US prices.
For example, say you wanted a game that costs you $70-80 USD, well you would PayPal the US cost of the game to one of the member's in the thread they have all about this and that person would GIFT you the game. By gifting you the game, your getting the US version and NOT the AU version and you spend LESS in USD because the game may save you $10 or so.
Oh course, you have to spend $10 to become a member of SomeThingAwful, but it's worth it IMO. They can also Gift you games that aren't available in Australia as well.
Huh? how did you reach that conclusion? Steam is a distribution platform you buy games through it and yes it also has support for some mods, that can be downloaded through it, but no you can't use it without owning at least one game that allows you to play the mod.DanielDust
On Steam, Australians and Europeans pay more for games.
IMHO, achievements are a waste of time implementing. They should be putting their time towards more content for the game instead of "content".
I play Eve Online. Three accounts. The third one I got last week for $5 from Steam.
Global Agenda is Sci-Fi, but it's not out yet.

All adds up to either 1806 or 1856. Note I did not include tax, shipping, rebate, bonus for combos. Also note that does not include a OS, you should get Vista 64 bit either business or home premium. (That includes a free upgrade to Wins 7). If I am correct the win 7 business has a XP compatability feature. You said you had no budget, yes you could spend a lot more money on better parts but your CPU is fine enough and has a good heat sink to OC to 3.8-4.2 ghz easily, solid ram and the best GPU. Hell if you want you upgrade the CPU to a 950 or 975 but that's another 600/150 USD, you could even SLIx2 with GTX295, pretty positive that PSU should hold, corsair is a really good solid brand.eikast
It costs a little more, but Tri-SLI GTX 285s beat Quad-SLI GTX 295.
