It seems in this case it'd make more sense to blame his genetics or his disorder that caused it, not the man himself.

As an existentialist, I attribute the majority of the blame to the person. It would be a sad life for me to think of it in any other way (with the loss of responsibility comes the loss of freedom) Though I see where some would like to see things as being caused mostly on a genetic level...it takes away the personal accountability. It is never 100% this or 100% that. But (if you read my posts to hippo) I am an advocate of freedom and the responsibility that accompanies it

I don't see how not blaming say a man with a severe sleeping condition who gets in his car due to it, drives it, and kills someone due to it=no freedom...

I also cannot see how that is his fault. For me it's not even an "I can sorta see why you'd..." I don't really see how one could blame them for that.

Well, if he knows he has that sleeping condition, he should know better. And usually those sort of people arent legally allowed to drive.

[QUOTE="kipohippo021"][QUOTE="msudude211"] Even when you have an empty stomach, won't you still vomit stomach acids? :P But by the time one has resorted to cannibalism, I would think that the "vomit factor" would be almost nonexistent. By that time, anything that resembles food would probably be welcome.UnamedThing
I dont think you can throw up stomach acid, it would probably destroy your pipes.

That's what heartburn is, duhhhh :P

Not when it comes all the way out though.

...more to the point, it places more responsibility on the individual.
-less of this, 'it is society's fault' way of thinking that permeates our society

...the less responsible a person feels for their behavior, the less responsibly they will act.

I advocate for more personal responsibility It actually supports more freedom...you are the master of everything you do...you control you...but, with that freedom, comes the burden of being responsible for yourself

rawsavon

But even for the insane? Thats harsh.

I would not give the insane any less freedom than that the sane...but, as a result, they also share just as much responsibility

But when you have mental hospitals to keep mentally insane people, you cant say they have the same rights.

Sure. I would protect the world from devastation, and unite all people into one nation.

I have a question.

Will you denounce the evil of truth and love? And extend your reach to the stars above?

I might be wrong but.... JESSE! JAMES! MEOWTH, THATS RIGHT!

[QUOTE="kipohippo021"][QUOTE="the_ChEeSe_mAn2"] This bugs me: how on Earth are they forcing their opinions on others? 2 people sharing a conversion and expressing their opinions to each other is what it is: expressing opinions :?

the_ChEeSe_mAn2

Exactly why i didnt act. The fact that people do act on that bugs me.

Well when one starts acting on those views by trying to force them on others without facts or proof, that I can agree with as being disturbing.

Thats what ive been saying this whole time. Gays marrying arent imposing anything, having a mosque by ground zero isnt imposing anything. So... why the hell not?

I'm not familiar with that one.UT_Wrestler
It was a day where people drew Muhammed (who is not supposed to be drawn) to piss off Muslims. Happened this year. During the summer, I believe.

Interesting. I'm not overly familiar with the intricacies of Islam, but as a Christian I see pictures and paintings of Christ all the time, so it's hard for me to grasp what the big deal is about a pictoral representation of Muhammed.

Which is probably where the insensetivity came into place. Christians came from a very materialistic past, priests used to sell holy relics and the such for profit. The leader of christianity used to go to war (crusades) and fight in golden armour. Christians are very materalistic. I myself came from christian roots, but i cant remember the name for the "leader" of christianity. Sorry.

[QUOTE="kipohippo021"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"] What about music....LJS9502_basic

*looks at your sig* you gotta be kidding me.

So in other words.....according to your thread...it's wrong to force opinions on others...but it's okay for you to force your opinion on that which I like? Double standard much? What was that you were saying about tolerance?

What am i forcing? Im just wondering how you can say that you dont take music seriously, yet you put the cure in your sig in a non joking manner.

The people trying to build the mosque near ground zero... that's basically a real-life example of trolling. The could have built it anywhere, but they chose there because they knew it would ruffle feathers.UT_Wrestler
How do you know that though? You are assuming too much. They could have done it because they are indeed harboring terrorits and its a way of saying "hah, look what we did". They could be offering peace. It could be a memorial. It could have been the only economically avalible space. There are so many reasons it could have been built there. I dont think any sort of religious leaders looking to build a place of worship would think in such a rash way.
