And it sucks to hear its so tacked on :/ Now I'm being far fetched here hahaha but I'm just imagining some Warner Bro's suit didn't properly go through his "Modern Game Features 2017" checklist while evaluating the game and dropped a last minute email on Monolith stating "You TV game guys forgot to add the game end, uhh sorry, 'endgame' thingamajig to our product" and Shadow War was the result of that.
But yeah, good review man, weighing the good and bad of the game here I'm pretty content with sticking with my pre-order, there's enough I know I'll enjoy to warrant my purchase.
My question is, what happens after the Shadow War endgame and final ending etc. etc? Is the online invasion mode the only thing left to do or can you just continue the Shadow War thing or so?
As repetitive as it can probably get, I quite like the idea of an endless back and forth war for fortresses. It was practically the only thing that made Godfather 2 worthwhile for me (as bad as that game was) and I quite enjoyed stopping at the last location and letting them take over again so I can fight back for my stuff.
I'm seeing mixed reception regarding the microtransactions so far; Gamespot's review sees it and that storefront as a ultimately useless feature yet Polygon says it can become annoyingly crucial and predatory in the endgame.
Then again...the reviewers at Polygon are pretty notorious for being really bad gamers so there's that to consider I guess
They desperately need to completely rethink their marketing though, for starters. The problem with the game is that its touted as this UBER 1337 MADDEST SKILLZ ESPORT GAEM EVER BRAH which brings forth its two biggest issues; Those who are not super elite competitive players would rather go for Overwatch or any of the other similar games then, and those who are super elite competitive players are already invested in Overwatch or any of the other similar games.
The game needs a more unique identity and because they chose to release the game in such a crowded and competitive environment, they especially need to show why its worth getting over its competition.
I mean, so what if its a super fast arena shooter? I'd rather get Quake Champions then because its the safer choice for a fast arena shooter.
So what if its class based as well? I'd rather just stick with Overwatch then because I already invested so much into it.
And that's kinda the crux of the problem here with Lawbreakers, I'd gladly get it because it looks legitimately good, but my response to everything I've seen of it boiled down to "So what?" and that's why I didn't buy it yet. And I guess that's why no one else has dived in yet either haha.
I'm sorry Tabata but there is going to be nude mods. Hell the mere mention here of "hey now no nudies mkay?" pretty much just guaranteed about a week after the windows release, people will be able to live out their fantasies of the bros riding free willy into the sunset, possibly with the chocobos being swapped out for huge walking dongs made out of tiny dongs depending on how deep one delved into the NSFW modding section.
Its just the nature of the user generated beast; where there's a willy there's a way. Might just drop mod support now and save themselves the shock as the road's gonna be long and hard otherwise.
@adamus: And with such a wonderful conclusion too! Gosh, I've experienced too many stories that always fall completely flat with its ending. Geralt's saga at least left me with a big grin on my face for the whole week after.
Im quite relieved to hear its chock full of content (and still has more coming with next year's big DLC especially), from being on the fence? I'm definitely in the "buying it tomorrow" side now.
