I think my issue also is things have just been so slow to get going in terms of exclusives and great PS4-centric stuff, I mean we're on our fourth year already and only now I'm starting to feel that magic I had with the PS3 and PS2 before it, with a whole slew of amazing exclusives finally out and for the first time a backlog of games I'm super keen to go through on the damn thing...

...And now there's already talk of the new Playstation. Its just like come on Sony, that momentum you've been building up finally kicked off and you're possible move may be to just crash that wave? Yeugh.

@sellingthings: I don't see how prematurely jumping into the next gen and fragmenting your customer base, possibly resulting in lower PS4 software sales and just not enough PS5 sales because people are still riding the momentum the PS4 built up thus far (buying consoles, catching up on games they missed out on etc.), will be the winning move here.

Trading in their currently big spoon for two small ones to get more of the pie won't necessarily mean more pie, is what I'm trying to say.

@joshrmeyer: Christ I'd genuinely like to move to wherever you are because the $600 price tag we have here for it is an absolute dealbreaker.

@sgtsaltnpepper: Sony would more likely be the one suffeing if they do that, they'll make Pro owners go "what the **** man I just bought your supposed best version!" and older PS4 owners go "what the **** man my console is now completely obsolete or what?", horribly breaking current customer trust, and lots of new buyers would most probably be wary of grabbing it to avoid being burned like the previous Pro owners.

But that's just my personal cynical viewpoint hahahaha

This is rather far fetched I believe, at the very least the idea of a PS5 so soon. It feels like the PS4 is only now picking up steam with great exclusives, it would be pretty lame to throw it in the backseat now for a new one.

Also even the idea of a PS4 Pro 2 (or whatever) doesnt make sense to me, I mean, doesnt bringing out a third model this soon essentially declare to the customer that, uhh, the Pro is a bit of a failure? I know I'd feel cheated (doubly so if I had the standard PS4 first too) if I got a Pro to be up to date only to hear theres a better one coming out now.

@Sefrix: Ooohh! That's a pretty neat viewpoint! My perception was a slight bit skewed because I had to study the disorder for my finals and it doesn't help that both me and the girlfriend being critical about the film rather fueled both of us into over-critical mode possibly xD I think we got way to wrapped up picking apart the obviously exaggerated details to actually see what the guy was trying to achieve.

Yeahhh.... I'm not wrong in assuming its just going to boil down to the same standard Call of Duty we've been having for the past decade now, right? I mean, we have this dance every year (I still laugh at the next-gen fish AI) where the developers go "this one is different! Promise!!" and its not.
