Cutscenes and gameplay are so disconnected they should receive a different score each. Cutscenes and story: 9/10 easily Gameplay: 5/10 at most So it depends on what you seek most in a game. If you love a good story and setting and doesn't care about gameplay, you totally should get this. If it's the opposite, stay away.
"A story with genuine stakes and consequences" Really? Does your actions alter the state of the world within the game? Does your actions interfere with the lives of other players? I don't think so. That statement is false.
@Crypt_mx: "GameSpot has been covering TV,film and general media for years now" Dude, I don't know how long since you visit Gamespot but they've never covered TV and used to cover movies only when they were related to videogames in some fashion. I've been here since 2005 and I can say your statement is false. That's the reason so many people complained about the changes.
I think the problem here is not the game having zombies, because the series had more bizarre creatures by far. The problem is making a game solely based on zombies and survival and slapping the name Metal Gear on it. As Kojima himself stated, every MG had some form of political commentary and that's what is lacking in this game. (At least at first glance, though I doubt Konami cared about a story in this game)
Inventory Full: The Game Seriously, even when you ignore all the hype, this game is mediocre. Once you enter a rotine of crafting a Warp Cell, charging the Hyperdrive, traveling to another system and doing all over again, you gonna hate this game. It's beyond me how the developers thought that anyone would have the patience to repeat this process thousand of times.
