@davillain-: you're wrong about Naughty dog owning the IP, it was in fact Universal Interactive who owned the IP rights for Crash Bandicoot and also Spyro.

In 2000 Vivendi bought Universal going with the new name Vivendi Universal Interactive and then in 2008 Vivendi and Activision merged to form Activision Blizzard, this is how Activision obtained the rights to both IPs.

@koopabros64: and yet just recently, Bethesda went after the developers of DoomRL, a game that was made before they acquired id software demanding it to be shut down.

All companies do this when there is a breach of copyright they feel could harm their product, there are no exceptions.

@AdderD @liquidsolid i know full well about the bit wars (its briefly mentioned above) but there is one difference between then and now which is back then folk didn't bicker about the the frequency of the cpu nor how many cores or the amount of shared L2/L3 cache available to each core, nor did they go on about how many GFLOPs the console's gpu can do or the amount of shaders available, nor anything about the amount and/or type of ram and so on.

back then it was only about bits, with all arguments being about a 16bit console being better than an 8bit console but even there the games still played an integral part in debating which console was better unlike most of the arguments now where its moved towards what has the largest/fastest ram inside.

that's a really good bundle, but seeing most of the comments going on about specs this, specs that.

going back a few gens no one cared about specs, all anyone cared about was the games.

Sure there were mentions of whether its 16bit, 32bit, blast processing and so on but it still boiled down to the games being the main attraction. After all back then it would be only the geekiest of gaming geeks who would know the exact spec of each console.

I don't roughly know when the focus to specs happened but it was around about gen 6. to begin with all that most folk knew about the ps2 was the emotion engine and some may possibly known of the 128bit cpu but that was it until around about the original xbox when I started to notice spec charts all over the place.

so whats the point to all this then, well in the end its not the specs that make the console its the games. you could shove in as much power as you want in a console but that doesn't guarantee a better gaming experience.

This is just nothing but PR spin, I would say that a nice stable framerate of 60fps would be more beneficial than just upping the resolution and using COD is not a good example at this moment considering that it has been widely reported to have framerate issues on the ps4.

@dipdish as do some console only gamers, just look at most torrent sites and you will see that it would more likely be the 360 version of that game that is most downloaded.

@Unraed @liquidsolid never mind, found a link to them at the bottom of the page but had to resubscribe to get more recent news.

they really need to streamline this and remove the old rss feeds to avoid confusion.

This is not surprising, when they revealed this updated version a while ago, modernising it and the handling of the visuals just didn't sit right with what the original was all about.

They should of done flashback the same way as Another World/Out of this World anniversary where the art style was updated but left intact which would of worked better and also looked better than what was done here.

@Sexycyber22 theres a difference in saying not a good lineup and stating that its not particularly strong.

the difference being that I see it being a fine lineup but it could of been better.
