@ausamo2000 only with a special new bundle they've just introduced which has given the early vita faithful the finger for not automatically switching their preorder to the new bundle.

@endorbr the problem is they are competing with smart phones, maybe not directly but in general yes. I never once mentioned about gaming on a smart phone in my comment and know full well folk don't buy phones to game on. And when i mean competing its on the merits of being a multi feature device. with numerous devices offering up services its all about convenience and how simple it is for the end user to access all of its content. Adding the features mentioned before to the vita is to compete with mobile devices as the end user's device of choice when they go out and about. So yes, the vita/3ds is completing with other devices who can offer a stellar service with the minimum of fuss.

@Zero_Beat i take it that you haven't been into gaming that long with a statement like that just because a system may have a more spectacular spec sheet doesn't guarantee success. After all, throughout most of the generations of consoles released, it has usually been the system with the weakest specs that have come on top. sheer power means nothing, its the volume of quality games that count.

@anakissed considering that their main competitor nintendo was able to allow multitasking on the 3ds does not bode well for sony.

@endorbr if sony aren't competing with smart phones then why are they adding Skype & Facebook integration? why are they adding a maps app and other smart phone features to the vita? obviously sony (and nintendo) do consider smart phones to be some form of competition.

@K-cof yeah some folk may hate on a product that that they can't afford (which seems really pointless). The real reason why some people may consider the psv as expensive is due to what has been around in both handheld and home console gaming from the get go, and that is the theoretical price point, that sweet spot when consumers consider the price to be right and units start moving. For Handhelds this theoretical price point is below the asking price of the current or about to be released home consoles. in this case the vita is more expensive than a ps3 so the average consumer would consider this too much to spend on a handheld. The same is also true when it comes down to games where a handheld title should retail at a lower price than the home console offering. once the vita gets its price drop to that sweet spot that the consumer feels is fair then we'll see the difference.

technically, the vita is a great piece of hardware but as with most of the decisions sony has made lately, they have bolstered some really perplexing features to the vita such as the amount of limits the've put on the device such as 1 psn account per vita and also limiting game sharing, with the decision to go all propriety on the memory cards when all your peers have chosen to go with industry standards really isn't doing anything for gamers to justify spending a large amount of money on a handheld system when they could walk out with a ps3/360 and a few games/accessories which seems to be more a better deal at the moment in time.

@lordgurpreet agreed, the xperia play is a mighty fine device for emulation on the go.
