Woot! Being a non American in a world where most games or their translations and internet discussion about those games are all designed by/held with Americans I do get sick of American grammar at times.

My number one pet hate in all the world is how y'all (wink) say "I could care less".

WTF Do you think that saying means? If you COULD care less then you must care some, which makes saying this to declare how little you care, meaningless. To say this properly, you just need to add 2 letters and an apostrophe. If you COULDN'T care less, then you really musn't care at all, since you are unable to care even less than you already do. Hence, if you COULDN'T care less then you don't give a **** (like most people reading this post that I couldnt' restrain myself from making). It's not hard to understand if you think about it, so why, whenever I come onto the internet, do I always see you guys say "I could care less". It makes me want to smash my face into my keyboard.

That line was a major spoiler in playing the NWN2 original campaign. It seemed for 90% of the dialogue options, you could choose a "I could care less" response. It drove me mad and removed that dialogue option for me as I couldn't bring myself to choose it, even when I otherwise may have done so.

Now, when playing MoTB I've just started talking to the Half-Celestial companion you pick up at the first town you go to after leaving the caves and guess what? The dialogue option has changed to "I COULDN'T CARE LESS". I'm so happy. I want to know who the smart person who picked up on that god-awful bug is and THANK THEM. Thankyou!!!!!!

:)

Also, is it just me or do the graphics in the dialogue cut scenes (do you call those cut scenes or close ups) look better than in the original campaign, even when patched after both are installed? I think my clothes that I imported over were changed from a generic outfit graphic to new graphics that were individual to that item/helmet/boots and not used for 10 others.

As a footnote, apparently when CDs and DVDs (later) were initally released, Sony claimed that you could use them as beer coasters or frisbees and they'd never wear out. Obviously cost cutting techniques have distroyed that quality. If you have a toddler, you'll know, as I do, that disks can be distroyed very easily by curious children. For that reason, I am trying to play with ToeD's direct play version of this game.

I've had no issues with this game so far, but I do have one very annoying issue that could be either a bug or an oversite on my part. One of the first missions I recieved that could only be done after being given command of the Normany, was to find a guy called Garoth's brother. You need to go to the Strenuus system in the Horsehead Nebula to find the ship he was on or sign s of it. I found the planet he's probably on. Xawin, in the Strenuus solar system within the Horsehead Nebula has a level 1 weather warning but you can't land on it as there is no land tab to select. A little internet research tells me to 'scan' NE of that planet to find the ship leaving a radioactive trail or something, leading to that planet, then I can land.

My particular problem is that I can't find said ship to get that reading which will allow me to land. I am playing on easy (first time playing I always do that as plot is more important to me than skill) and usually when I need to locate a ship in some cluster or other, I can see 4 triangular 'arrow heads' facing a central point, which I can select, to 'board' a ship. As this is one of the first outer space quests I received, I would presume it's quite easy, therefore I definately expect to see those arrow heads to easily select the ship to board, however, they are not present. I read somewhere that I need to 'scan' the area NE of the Xawin planet but I don't know how. I've checked out the keymapping option in the controls settings and no key is able to be selected for any function like scanning in space!?!

Is this a game bug? I haven't seen questions about this when google seaching. Normally if my game has a bug, other's have experienced it before and there will be something about it in Google but noone has reported the same error that I can find. Am I missing something here?

I found this on a game guide/review

Identity. I never got a chance to finish this primary quest, don't know if it's a bug, but it seems to have to do with Triss. But in this game, I chose Shani. Near the end of the game, this quest was still open and "I" still don't know what happened to me. One of the driving purposes in the story for Geralt was to find out what happened to him which led to his amnesia. This to my knowledge was never unraveled. This memory never recovered, thus we never knew what happened between the Striga encounter and sudden appearance of Geralt at Kaer Morhen.

This is the same problem I had, and I too chose Shani.

Did this happen to other ppl? If so did you choose Triss or Shani as your love interest (between random casual encounters)

If it didn't happen to you and you did get this quest to complete, do you find out any more of the story from it?

Had to revive the thread after just finishing this game!

Truly awesome, but I'm a little annoyed to find I missed two quests. One in chapter 3 I think, you have to get it before you go to the posh reception, or else your chain of events won't allow you to do both it and a quest from Siegfried. It's triggered by meeting Yaevinn at the Druid's circle out in the swamp, but why would you be all the way over there before any other reason sends you out there and there's so much to do nearby??? Also, I didn't seem to get the Identity quest finished. I have no idea why, I must have done everything. But enough of that.

Has anyone played both with Triss & Shani as love interests, on separate runs? Even though I'm a hetero female, I chose Shani just because the preview I saw of her second sex card was gorgeous (and the first was so ugly I wanted to make up for it, whereas Triss's first one was nicer than her second). A lot of people seem to have chosen Triss because there were more advantages to that choice. I'd love to hear the different things Geralt thinks about in cutscenes (like how he needs to leave Shani before he gets her badly hurt) but with Triss as the one who got Alvin. I'm sure there's threads on this already that I somehow missed, so pls feel free to direct links.

What's with the ending? This thread has the best theories to date. I always wondered about the 'other witcher's academy' thing since if they really lost touch, how does Geralt know that all witchers are extinct other than him and Berengar?

In another site I found, people suggested that the assassin at the end was actually Geralt in the future. He comes back to kill the king after seeing the disaster it would cause (with time travel again). He looks different as he found the reverse mutagen he wanted (to not be sterile and perhaps to darken his skin and hair, making him look more human). I think this theory is crap because Geralt is the better fighter, how can that be against his future self??? Also the new guy didn't seem to know any signs.

The theories I like best are in this thread. That it's either another witcher school's graduate or someone else used the witcher's secrets to perfect the mutagens (but were smart enough not to make a big noise about it). Can't wait for the next game to see.

Also if anyone got into the theory that Alvin is NOT the GM Jacque, I disagree. The writers definately seem to want us to think we killed little Alvin and get a twinge over it. There's so many clues from him saying you debt was paid (the first time you meet the GM) and 'you always said...' comments. The medallion was a definate giveaway and both Alvin and GM are sources. There's more clues too like Alvin flashing up in the GM's dream world (more like a glitch in the projection than a deliberately placed obstacle, it would be better if the Quest update saying Geralt wouldn't be distracted hadn't been added there).

Do these really annoy you?

I don't like diablo style battle as I've mentioned before but the Witcher grew on me in the 30 mins I decided originally to give it. There is enough humour, storyline, diversion etc to hook me in.

But... The hand gestures seem so out of place and add a few more seconds waiting time onto the repeated cutscenes (ie: after fighting each fistfighter or after NPCs finish talking). One minute my strong but silent, gorgeously buff, merciless macho witcher is bashing the blood from his opponents mangled bodies and the next... he's making foppish little hand gestures like a drag-queen. Is this just me?

I dont remember if that old lady helps you complete the quest but i do remember an old lady asking for a drink......if i remember correctly, i just gave her a beer. Maybe its a bug or something...or maybe you should try completing the quest in every other way possible. if none of them works, wait for The Witcher enhanced and maybe the bug will be fixed. You can also try cheats if you are realy desperate.TA127

I don't think this old lady is imperitive to any quest, she's just a minor NPC but not being able to see what she does is driving me crazy!

You're probably right, it's probably a bug. I wonder why I can find info about other minor NPCs and not her online though. I can find info about the lady who wants pork in the outskirts, who's probably equal to this character, but not this one.

If someone else does know for a fact what works with this old woman, I'd like to know, that way I can be sure it's a bug and forget about it.

I was using v1.2 but now have patched to v1.3 and still having the same problem.

My replies don't seem to be working.

Hope this doesn't come up later as a triple post.

I'm not talking about Shani's grandma. I'm talking about an old lady out in the streets of the temple district near to the bootblack. Shani's grandma was easy because I'd already got the ring from the bootblack that makes old people like me. Shani's grandma thought I was some kind of super priest (calling on her granddaughter at home in the middle of the night?) and couldn't send me up to Shani's room quick enough. Shani was half naked the second time I tried to see her as I went about 4am. The grandma sure is easy to please with that ring.

Try gamefaqs.comTaylorgc2004

so far hasn't helped. Can't find anything via google or that site.

Someone's gotta have done this!
