@Venatorcruiser Well they still make tv's, and movies, and lots of other things. Sony is still a massive company. But do you really think this would get most people to just stop playing consul games in the next 5 years? People thought always on DRM would hurt pc games and diablo turned out to be one of the best selling pc games of all time. People hate these things, but in the end we usually put up with them.
Well, last year activision made about $640 million. Gamestop made about $9 billion. THQ went bankrupt. Maybe THQ and other studios would have gone bankrupt anyways, but I think we can all agree that $9 billion is a lot of money for a company that is really just a video game pawnshop. Maybe blocking or limiting used games would be good for the industry overall. Even if it would be the only industry to have such limits.
@burrito_tester I didn't know this was an actual rumor. I just meant they will let you make payments over time instead of putting the full price on the window sticker (just like phones).
I think Gold is here to stay. I also think that MS is going to move towards the cell phone model where the phone is free if you sign a long contract. Only for MS it's a Gold membership contract. I think they already started doing this with the newest xbox models. If the 720 comes out at $200 plus $80 a year for four years people will think it's an amazing deal vs a ps4 at $400.
