[QUOTE="gruoch1"]troll? you know HD-DVD is done, its been in the workings for months. blu-ray wins, guess its not the next betamax Yep im such a troll, i guess buying a PS3 for BD and owning over 16 Blu Ray movies qualifies me as a troll doesn't it. i think it does[QUOTE="Gzus666"][QUOTE="BlacKJaCK2290"][QUOTE="Gzus666"][QUOTE="BlacKJaCK2290"]You picked movies from the BD exclusive studios dude of course their not on Bd with the exception of Happy Feet.washimul
How do you figure that makes him a troll?
look at the GEARS OF WAR icon in his avtar........tht is very exposing :)
HHAHA your guys are funny, one guy says HD-DVD is not done, another guy says HD-DVD is done, and its the guy that says HD-DVD is not done that is being name called.....You guys crack me up..
Back here in Sweden, the HD-DVD are like a ghost... You wont find any of that crap. But Blu-Ray's going steady.

Thats kinda weird when you consider HD-DVD owns 85% of the market in Europe, for every 17 HD-DVD players sold, there are 3 Bluray players sold.

[QUOTE="m3Boarder32"][QUOTE="gp19"]I don't really care who wins becuase I have both players (PS3 and 360 add-on). What doesn't make sense to me is why people think that a disc capable of holding 50gb on its dual layer format will be beaten by one that holds close to 30.eclipsed4utoo

Sorry, i guess its $276 - $10 for google checkout. Still cheap tho.
[QUOTE="Symphonycometh"]Will updating my 5.1 surround sound to 7.1 be just as great as switching from my current sdtv to my future hdtv?:Durazn13
This is incorrect. All of the HD-DVDs that I've looked at in-store are 1080p. After a firmware update on the Toshiba player, it outputs 1080p.[QUOTE="gmsnpr"][QUOTE="planbfreak4eva"]sectoid go check dixons.co.uk and search blu ray and then hd dvd and you will see that hd dvd goes up to 1080i only and check blu ray and it says 1080p i aint makign up anythinghcho3
That's incorrect... Only TOSHIBA HD-DVD player that will go up to 1080P is Toshiba HD A2. According to ign, this is the only HD-DVD player that will output 1080P. And this player costs just as much as blu-ray players. If not, more.

[QUOTE="mu5afir"][QUOTE="BlacKJaCK2290"]BD has UPCM and HD DVD has TrueHD big whoop. That article proves nothing, its just some guys opinion.BlacKJaCK2290True HD? What is "true" HD? Dolby TrueHD Audio, lossy audio.
I have a optical 5.1 surround sound system in my basement hooked up to a 60" Sony projection TV - lemme tell ya, Resistance looks and sounds AMAZING on it. It kind of gives you an unfair advantage in online play, too, because the way Resistance works (and, I assume, most nearly every other PS3 game) is that it moves the sound across the speakers as you move the player. So, if an explosion happenned to your left, you could hear where it came from, and that way you could spot the enemy quicker. It's like that for many other games, I'm sure, so if anyone out there has the money for it - it would be a much better addition to your home theater system than a HD-DVD player, which would cost you about the same :P
Like m3boarder32, I also have the Onkyo TXSR604. My PS3 is set to "Video 3" by the way...

[QUOTE="dru26"][QUOTE="BroweChisox"][QUOTE="dru26"]You do not need HDMI for your reciever to output DTS. I use optical, on my Kenwood 5.1. Alot of people are also getting suckered into buying HDMI recievers that only have an HDMI passthrough. A true HDMI reciever is well over $1000.BroweChisoxYou are wrong. There are plenty of cheap options such as the Denon AVR-887, widely accepted as the best 'future proof' cheap receiver. We were not arguing about hearing regular compressed DTS like you are hearing, but uncompressed lossless audio, which you are NOT hearing. You would be astounded at the difference... probably even more since you are stuck listening to a Kenwood receiver...yuck. You must have had some tight budget constraints at the time huh?
