This review causes a loss of credibility to me for Gamespot. They take forever for their resident Sony fanboy to submit a review citing that they were waiting for the multiplayer portion to be assessed for fairness- and because a highly played game with an insurmountable level of traffic has a hiccup, they shoot it down before an obvious and greatly impending update has been administered. Cretins. If it was worth being fair to completely assess the game by experiencing its multiplayer, then surely it is worth waiting just a bit longer (for the sake of accuracy) for the update, before creating such an undeserving score on one of the greatest franchises the industry offers. Surely, it could not be that that this is one of the best offerings on XB1 (or any console) and presents a chance to take a suckerpunch at the Xbox during a rapidly closing window of opportunity? An addendum to this travesty of a review is demanded after the game update. An 87 on Metacritic proves just how redundant this review is.There is no Halo game that deserves a 6, and that includes Spartan Assault or Halo Wars. You have swayed nobody from purchasing and enjoying this love letter to the fans that is MC Collection.
@macklin_ If it means anything- my PC outperforms all of the console offerings this generation, yet- I hit the 360 or XB1 more than anything else, with a little sprinkling of PS3 and Vita. I have to get in the mood for a PC game to go to my desk and fire it up. I know a lot of people are like this. Unless, you know you will be constantly drawn to the PC everytime you need a gaming fix- I would hold off. Still, the PC is the best overall value.
@Brumbek Nice "on paper" explanation. Doesn't mean much for real world performance. This is the same sales drivel that Sony has been using to boast PS4 as a super computer, whilst trying to make XB1 look like a pocket calculator. People who buy XB1 aren't buying it versus a PS4 because of a 40% lack of power, which they, incidentally, fail to see in-game in real-time. No, they are buying XB1 for what it can do that PS4 doesn't or can't. They are also buying it for its games, both current and future. Both machines are closer in terms of tech than farther apart- I'm sick of saying it. This "40%" advantage is minutiae. Do people play Black Flag on XB1 and point to the screen and say "ewwww, 900p! I gonna go buy a PS4,"? No, they don't. Why? Because its not so obvious. Matter of fact its downright impossible to perceive. There will be plenty of games running on 1080p in XB1's future for those who care. Take MC Collection to start. Any good tech minded shopper knows that these kind of numbers do not warrant a champion from either camp- both are mid-low end PC's from four years ago. It really comes down to the games. Always has, always will. I don't know what your trying to prove, maybe your just trying to justify your purchase. If it was all about specs on paper- then my Chicago Bears should be the top team in the NFL! $350 for an XB1 is a great deal and worth every cent. Now go back and play some Destiny, I'll continue to wait for Halo.
@wowwow27 I started my 8 yr old son on my Atari 2600. He then graduated to Nintendo DS, Gamecube, 3DS, then on to 360. Righteous gaming path. This is why he loves the Dreamcast the most. He's less jaded then some twenty-somethings on this forum.
@PeterDuck I appreciate the perception of physical law and relativity in this post. We think alike in this regard. But while most of the world is doomed to complacently repeat forgotten histories, Earthworm Jim was indeed better on the SNES.
