Thats Sub-Zero. Eh whatever. We shall see. The franchise is practically dead I guess this can't hurt...

dvader654

Yeah, it can't be worse than "Eskimo Shredder" Sub-Zero :P

eskimooo

Though a cybernetic Sub-Zero with that visual design doesn't really scream "better"... and please don't tell me they changed clans for gangs. So what, Scorpion killed Sub-Zero's entire gang? :P

[QUOTE="martialbullet"][QUOTE="dvader654"]WTF did I just watch. It looks ok but that is a perfect example of everything that is wrong with video game adaptations. Mortal Kombat is the only good video game movie because it actually used the source material. Now they are taking the one good example we have and screwing with it. Meh.dvader654

Well signs show this is meant to be a reboot.

Is it a movie or a game? I'm lost.

Not quite clear, but since it's so near E3, I'm going for a game.

If it's a movie, this does kill the source material unless that's the direction WB is taking with the entire franchise.

Whaaat. I must be getting the wrong info...

But wait, technically, he was part and founder of R* North, even for just a bit? D:

UpInFlames

Nope, DMA Design was founded in 1988 by David Jones (creator of Lemmings and Grand Theft Auto). DMA also did some games for Nintendo (Body Harvest, Space Station Silicon Valley). They were bought shortly after the Housers founded Rockstar in 2001 and renamed Rockstar North. The Housers worked with DMA Design ever since the original Grand Theft Auto, but they were never actually part of the studio (they were first based in London, then moved to New York in the early 2000's).

Sooo...Houser found Rockstar and renamed DMA Rockstar North, but wasn't directly part of it?

Rockstar San Diego always had talent as evidenced by the Midnight Club series (which basically invented open-world street racing) and Table Tennis.

However, it's interesting you would say that because as I was watching the opening credits, I noticed several key Rockstar North people. Most notably, Rockstar North chief Leslie Benzies served as not only Producer but also Lead Designer. Also, Manhunt Designer/Writer Christian Cantamessa is credited as Lead Designer and Writer.

Once again, this demonstrates Rockstar's global development process. Rockstar NYC is usually involved in all Rockstar games, but also people from other studios are brought in for their expertise. For example, Rockstar San Diego and Rockstar Toronto helped out on Grand Theft Auto IV and Rockstar North helped out Rockstar Leeds on the handheld Grand Theft Autos and now Rockstar San Diego on Red Dead Redemption.

Just a couple Rockstar fun facts.

UpInFlames

...and Dan Houser . R* North had it's share in Redemption's development. Saying R* SD showed up R*N is like saying Unbisoft Montreal Team 1 showed up Ubisoft Montreal Team 2 when they're in fact sharing resources.

Actually, Dan Houser is VP of Creative and he's based in Rockstar NYC. He co/writes almost all Rockstar games. :)

I agree, Rockstar has a pretty unique global development process in which they use all their available talent (which is obviously vast) whenever and wherever appropriate. That's not to downplay Rockstar San Diego's importance in Red Dead Redemption's success, there's no question that their role was vital.

Yeah, but I thought it would be important to add him in as well :P I thought though he was solely based in Rockstar North since he was listed as one of the key people. Guess that's no longer the case.

[QUOTE="Jbul"]Like I said in my review, Rockstar took all the stuff that held the series' back, and removed it when they created RDR. They basically just cut off all the fat, and what's left is substance, not crappy dating mini-games and annoying siblings to babysit.

UpInFlames

Rockstar San Diego just showed up Rockstar North, and are the new guys to watch at that company.

I beat this today. Such an incredible game. Ending spoilers:

Jbul

You don't lose honor for that? I should have done it :(

You do, but why does it matter? You've already gotten the achievement by that point, and the game is over anyway.

I hate the feeling of losing honor >__>
