Peryn comes out next year but 45nm conroe chips come out later this year.blacktorn

There's no such thing as 45nm Conroe. Conroe will stay 65nm. Penryn, Wolfdale and Yorkdale are 45nm and have new SSE4 instructions, they're like Core 2.5 Duos/Quads. Nehalem will be 32nm Core 3.

Quad core will be better when Intel moves to 45nm or 32nm for lower power consumption and more applications actually use all 4 cores.

ddr2-800 runs at 400 mhz if it's in dual channel, at 800 mhz in single channel. (I think, not 100% sure).

Whats Raid 1 HD? Noob at this stuff. See any on this? http://www.microbytes.com/computer/ordinateur/index.php?cPath=2050200

Sleepyz

Firstly don't buy from Microbytes, their prices are too high.Ā Order your stuff from http://www.directcanada.com/. Best prices in Canada, 6% tax if you don't live in BC, free shippingĀ on orders over 300$.

Reason I was going so big for HD is I have a 3 1/2 yrs old computer with a 120gig hd and an 80gig hd and always fighting for disk space.

Sleepyz

Get one 500Gb first and wait for prices to drop until you get a second one.

For tower not really sure, Wanted pretty Black one with a clear side but how am I supposed to know if its big enough for those Big 8800 cards? Also one that comes with fans and doesn't make too much noise. Any suggestions?

Sleepyz

Search for one that is roomy (length of 19+ inches), that doesn't include a PSU and has place for at least 2 120mm fans. Me i'll be getting a cheap Coolermaster Elite for 40$.

600W power ATX ultra X-finity black a good power supply?

Sleepyz

No, it sucks. Get a Seasonic or Corsair. The investment is worth it, if you don't want to take the risk of having a cheap PSU burn and fry your components.

And Would I really see a difference between E6600 and E6700 because the difference in cash is pretty big.

Sleepyz

Wait until July or August, and you'll be able to buy a Q6600 (quad core 2.4 Ghz) or a E6850 (dual core 3.0 Ghz) for 300$ CDN.

It looks like an ide cable would partially hide the sata ports on that Gigabyte DQ6 board. And the ide connector on an Asus P5K non deluxe is very badly placed (upper left corner of the board). And I don't need wi-fi for now to justify the extra cost of the deluxe version. That single ide connector is still important to me.

Screws are old school..the snap in clips work awesome. I have the Antec P180B and the DVD is sitting very nice and snug. Besides it's really designed well anyway..Raz0redge

Ā

The P180 looks nice but too expensive and heavy. It must weight around 35 lbs I think. I want a case that costs around 50-70$ canadian so I can put more money for a better cpu and vga.

Anyone have that case know if the dvd-drives sit tightly in the 5.25" bays or do they move a little ? I'm a bit paranoid, I don't want any vibrations when burning dvds, I don't want the laser to lose its focus lol. I prefer using screws than drive clips but I can't find a better tower that fits my needs and budget.

Any recommendations for a cheap nice looking black tower with place for at least 4 hard drives and 2 120mm fans ?

I would get a case that doesn't include a power supply since you're getting a Silverstone PS.

No, my 3 year old pc is low end.

- P4 3 ghz

- Asus motheboardĀ

- 1 gig Corsair pc3200

- Ati x800xl

I'll have a high end pc in july or august, waiting for the next Intel price cuts and ram will be even cheaper.

At a small computer store 3 years ago (Pentium 4 and upgraded the ram 1 year later from now defunct Monarch Computers) For my next computer in july or august i'll order most of the parts from directcanada.com. I wish newegg would ship to Canada. But directcanada.com has very good prices and i would pay 6% taxes instead of 14%. I can't wait to build my next pc which will be E6850, P35 mobo, 2 Gigs of Corsair ram, Antec case, Seasonic PS and probably the Asus x1950 pro.
