I'm happy to see that many of the staffers bought both councils way to go! Mark job dedication and dedication to gaming is what we would expect from people who cover gaming.

@howiex89 @outdplay @naomha1 I play my PC games in front of a 100" screen while sitting in a Lazyboy chair. Not all PC gamers sit at a desk. ;)

@LexLas I bought only one CoD game and spend 80% of my time doing the "training missions" solo against the games AI players and the other 15% in "Zombies" with the remaining 5% in the "Zombie Arcade". Never touched the other modes.

Most games boil down to simple "get from point A to point B". However some players no longer accept that at face value we want to have an invested reason as to WHY we want to get there and more than one option of doing so. The addition of a back story, decent voice acting and visuals add to the NPC's found along the way and the ability of the game to disguise the otherwise simple objective.

I agree that when you remove playing with people you know or even those that you don't it then becomes more of a matter of what games you like and which ones offer a the best single player experience and what platform fits the best in your living situation.

@kstegall2 What the 2D-3D button on any HD/3D TV will give you is FAKE 3D that is not worth bothering with. Find someone with a good AMD+Tridef setup or someone with a good Nvidia+3DVision setup and see for yourself 1st hand what desktop (IE: PC) games look like in Stereoscopic 3D - trust me you'll have difficulty playing games monoscopically afterwards.

I rarely can play games that are NOT being displayed in Stereoscopic 3D anymore. While most games will render a 3D image on the screen, there is no real depth or popout - its like watching regular TV or looking at a regular photograph. S3D can give both depth and popout that when coupled with a 5.1/7.1 sound system a gamer can really immerse themselves into the game beyond what can be done+felt otherwise. Highly recommended.

Back on topic: I to wish that reviewers gave better coverage of what (if anything) can be expected of the S3D that our 3DS games provide. LOZ:OOT is awesome on this little handheld and emulates some (mostly only some depth on the 3DS screen) of what I regularly see on my 100" screen with: Skyrim, Borderlands2, DragonsAge:Origins, Batman:AA,Metro2033, TombRaider:2013, BI and countless others.

Most of the 3DS games I've purchased offer a "layered" 3D look that while better than simply a classic 2D presentation, don't match the visual quality of OOT or SuperMario3D World.

I've not played any of the other Bioshock's so had nothing to compare this to. Ok its a shooter - I get that. There's a 'story' which involves going to multiple locations to get ether stuff or information and as a shooter there are NPC's in the path to those places which hinder your progression. Basically the script for just about every shooter ever made.

Possibly the unplanned conflict of giving the player awe inspiring artwork to gawk at and plenty of reason not to could be rather frustrating 'mechanic'. While the game world itself is well done its single glaring flaw is that it's rather static - mostly unpopulated (unless your counting the endless waves of folks trying to kill you) and serves merely as a backdrop to a 'kill your way here' or 'kill your way there' story line.

The addition of a non combative side kick deepens the game play some while adding extra dialog and charm. The difficulty settings appear to boil down to: use vigors or weapons to kill everything in your path and use BOTH vigors+weapons to kill everything in your path.

The sound track and artwork alone are worth a much better score.

IMHO: A "hard core" gamer is someone who invests more time per day/week/month playing games then ANYTHING else in their life. They employ more than 1 stationary and/or mobile platforms and regularly play more than three types of games.

This sounded interesting and having not played the original I picked it up. I've only played through the starter area and plan on tackling my first 'quest' today. Its a bit different - having to draw in the map seems to be a time killer- or an attempt to create interaction in a fairly static (so far) game.
