@guily6669 To each their own. I sit at a desk all day staring at PC screens and can't bring myself to do it anymore when I'm not working. Even at 720/1080P a PC can offer some eye candy that the current generation of consoles can't do. While I do own a PS3 I'd rather use my PC as I can usually do S3D on it and rarely can do that on my PS3.

I'll likely pickup one of the new consoles when they come out, just to have access to the exclusive titles and releases.

My i7/GTX570SLI rig drives a 43" Samsung Plasma which looks stunning in 3D. (the black level on a Plasma can look like the screen is off)

Things have indeed changed since the current generation of consoles were introduced - just about everyone has a large screen HDTV in their living room and are making phone calls on devices with more processing power then a 2003 XP powered PC.

"Pocket-PCs" in their day could of been a great gaming platform but never were a serious threat to Nintendos and Sony's portable offerings - which have controls designed for gaming. Apple and Android may have gotten the masses to use a smart phone but these devices lack gaming controls. The only 'interesting' portable device with 'Nvidia' in it was a 10" WIN8 tablet powered by an i7+Nvidia graphics +dual sticks and D-Pad - THAT might be interesting.

Portable devices might be taking off, however I can't recall the last time I played a game on a screen smaller than 37" - including PC games. These days I work when sitting at a desk and rather play games while sitting in a easy chair in my living room. IHMO the future of gaming is in the living room, not in devices that fit in our hands.

Standard boilerplate denial response: "we've heard from 1000's that love the new feature". Uhh.... ok.... SURE you have.....

I think everyone is missing the point. What do publishers hate more than pirating and used games? Your current library. How are they going to entice you into buying [insert game name here]VII when you still have access to your I/II and III disks and could just as easily have fun with them instead of parting with some ca$h?

When they tie games to online services THEY control the service live of the game. They unplug the servers and guess what? Your game no longer works. Period. This starts looking more and more like 'rental ware' or a 'service' which they'd like. They'd love to have a solid revenue stream - then they could leverage it - money rules.
