is gametrailers considered as big as ign and gamespot?

also, gamespy should be in there somwhere, even though they and ign are pretty much the same thing.

i got my 360 about a week and a half ago, i got gears of war, dead or alive 4, and guitar hero 2.

guitar hero 2 dominates both of them in play time, and it's by far the most fun, and it's the one i plan on going back to the most. (i'm about halfway through hard)

that game is the most fun i've had playing a video game in a loooooong time.

so you expect to kick complete ass "out of the box".. what? if you did not need to practice the game would be s***. thats the essence of DoA.

Matz

yeah, i don't think that i said that i expected to "kick complete ass out of the box" and i never said that i didn't want to practice.  i like how you put words in my mouth and ran with it.

and i have nothing against hard games, at all.  i like hard games, but it's poor design to have a game that hard right away, with no way of teaching new players how to play, or having a mode where you can putt around and learn some stuff, instead of fighting a character who either doesn't move or kicks your face off.

So, I bought Dead or Alive 4 because I loved the other DOA games, and I assumed that it would be like the other games, and it is, except for the fact that it is insanely hard right out of the box.

I mean, i'm not even having fun. God forbid I haven't played a DOA game for awhile and am not a master as soon as I pop that baby in. Even on the lowest difficulty it destroys me. I've managed to get through story mode with a few characters, but that's with using lots of continues and playing several rounds at least 5 times. Some as high as 10+.

So, I think i'm going to trade it in, and it breaks my heart, because I LOVED the older DOA games, but this one is just too hard right off the bat, and it's cheap hard, with no way of ramping up your skills, nowhere to start from square one, you have to start from hard (normal on DOA4 is harder than normal on past DOA's).

So, yeah, I'm thinking of maybe picking up oblivion in it's stead.

on casual, for the most part, i didn't think the AI was too terrible.  sometimes they seem lazy and have their moments of "right. . ." but overall, there have only beena  handful of moments when dom pissed me off.

alright, Dead or Alive have been my favorite fighting series for a long time (excluding Super Smash Bros) and I just got around to picking up a 360 and got DOA4 in the mail today (the last time I played DOA was on PS2).

now, do I suck, or is the game really hard right off the bat? no easy difficulty? I used to be a monster at the PS2 DOA, but I keep getting skanked by everyone on the story mode. Is it just that i'm rusty or does the game start off hard?

it might just be that i haven't played in a long time, but holy god, i'm getting my teeth punched through the back of my skull before the announcer even says "fight".
