[QUOTE="Lonelynight"]That's how the game will probably end up looking like. The screen TC posted was running on a insanely powerful rig to show off the power of a quadcore processor by intel in one of their tech demos.Wow that picture with the tree is damn ugly, the car engine is also very 2D like too
froidnite
What do you mean? Those tree models the the exact same as the ones in the pic TC posted. Quad cores are not really that new and the game is still in development. Are you saying they are going to downgrade a PC game (which rarely happens) that is still in development because it requires a quad core?
[QUOTE="-Skyfall"]Crysis completely obliterates it. No contest.blues3531
I don't think so at all. I've been saying Alan Wake looks better from the beginning. This is also the first game recommending quad core processors and im sure it will be nvidia 8 series recommend maybe even the new 9's coming out.
I agree, although its lacking is some areas like textures and the amount of detail in the environments compared to crysis it is still an amazing looking game, not to mention it sound really interesting, i cant wait for this game to come out.
[QUOTE="michael098"][QUOTE="jack_russel"][QUOTE="michael098"][QUOTE="jack_russel"][QUOTE="michael098"][QUOTE="jack_russel"]I honestly don't understand why some people think Alan wake looks so good. I mean it's nice, but it's not the best. Crysis, gears, UT3 and uncharted all look much better. Some of the textures on Alan wake are downright ugly. I think people are just infatuated with the fact that there are so many trees.jack_russel
Lol are you ******* serious? Gears? Uncharted? UT3? While Alan Wake is graphically inferior to crysis the lighting is probably the most amazing iv EVER scene, don't even mention games like uncharted or CoD4, the lighting in this game is truly amazing. The environments though not as detailed as crysis they are still very impressive, and the physics are also very impressive.

thanks for reminding me why I think the way that I do. It's going to take more than a bunch of identical trees and water to wow me.Lol then what does it take? Uncharted like tree models? lmao!!!
The branches on the trees in alan wake have like 1 ,maybe 2 polygons on them; and they're all identical. It also has some of the worst car models in a next gen game I've ever seen. Some of the textures are also less than pristine. His running animation also looks...off. Alan wake has nice lighting, and it's big; but thats about it. It looks good from a distance when you zoom out like a postcard. Otherwise it looks like an average next gen game to me.completely disagree, and have you ever being told the the most important aspect of a good looking game is lighting? In some cases lighting can make all the difference. Take CoD4 for example, while the character models are detailed the textures on the console versions are nothing special and the environments are also not that great, not bad or anything but not the best out there by a long shot, but the lighting makes everything look very realistic, especially indoors, the first level in the boot looks amazing, and this is because of the lighting, take the lighting out and replace it with some average lighting and it would hardly be impressive. You don't need super high res textures like gears, or to have every tree model unique, Alan wakes environments are nothing compared to crysis but because of the lighting the game looks very realistic.
Ligthing isn't as important to me. If you shine a light on something ugly it's still ugly.lol, i wasted my time. Its not an opinion, the key to realistic graphics is lighting, you are clearly not impressed with realistic graphics, that doesn't mean gears or uncharted look better, because whether you like it or not they don't.
No amount of light can make the texture of that engine look any better:
I never said they would.....The whole point of the CoD4 example was to explain that high res textures don't = good graphics. If i see an awesome looking game and then i realise it has low res textures i don't automatically think the game looks bad. When oblivion came out it was a good looking game, even though the textures wernt that great. I suppose you think killzone 2 looks bad then?

[QUOTE="michael098"][QUOTE="Luminouslight"][QUOTE="michael098"][QUOTE="drdvl"]Yea i would say 42 is ok. 30 mins is alright for a stress test maby you could do an hour and see. And for your overclocking it could be 1. it overheats or 2. its an unstable clock.
Luminouslight
Do you think it could be my ram thats the reason for it not booting? Im saying this because i got the cheapest ram i could find.
Yes, it could definetly be. I underclocked my RAM and increased my clock and it boot. that's how i got my 4000+ 2.4 over 3.0. You should play arround with frequencies.
Awesome, what can i use to underclock my ram? My bios doesn't let me keep the ram at stock frequencies and there are no other options for changing it.
Sorry, no help there, I use my BIOS. You would probably need to change it before Windows booted up anyway so I don't think any program would work.
Yea thats true, ill be getting new ram soon anyway so hopefully that fixes the probelm, thanks for the help.
