To me, there's only two things that will determine if the Wii U is a success or not: 1. The variety of excellent quality games (duh, and from the sounds of it, that might not be a problem), and 2. The Nintendo Network being as versitile and user friendly as (if not more than) Xbox Live and/or PSN; As long as they don't pull a Sony '06 and announce a ridiculous price point for the system, Nintendo will be fine.

I'm not so sure about PC gamers "abandoning their rigs" to the 360, but I will leave that silly nonsense for another day. One surprising thing that the article doesn't mention is the possibility of the PS4 being the fist and only console (for that generation) that could carry a disc format twice as big as a Blu-Ray disc, and if the discs are cheap for consumers to buy, the possibilities of what games can be on there could potentially blow the other 2 consoles out of the water.

As someone who got all of the id Software games on a sale, I hope that Doom 3 will get an "Update" of sorts for those who already have Doom 3 on the PC like I do, because I don't want to spend a lot of money just for 7 new levels and some (much needed) new tweaks. >>

And glad to see we're finally getting a new game after years of waiting.

Finally, some GOOD news from a Japanese developer. >>

But seriously, I am definitely going to buy the HD Collection if it's as good as the MGS COllection and not the SH Collection, because I've played the first ZOE and loved it, but never got the chance to play 2nd Runner. : (

If Microsoft wants people to come back to the flock with the next system, they are definitely going to need to make some changes (the used-game blocking rumors are gonna be thrown out the window): One good suggestion, if they want to keep their "Gold" membership, I'd rather have it be based off of Playstation Plus where the multiplayer is free for everyone, but Gold members would have discounts, free stuff, etc. This way, everyone will be happy.

Fantastic article; I agree that the publishers that have these highly successful franchises are becoming more and more afraid to face the unknown, and the irony is that the exact same unknown that the developers have been making is what got both them (and the publisher) successful in the first place. Probably one of the most unacceptable things ever are the thoughts that they can get away with things like locking content ON THE DISC and having people charge for the "key" and it unlocks something that should be in the main game in the first place; if you want DLC to have meaning, make the content is its own thing (like it did on Borderlands and even ME2!) instead of making people pay for a silly in-game weapon, or a crucial part of the main storyline. Another thing is that while publishers can get away with milking a franchise for all its worth, eventually the utters are gonna run dry; people will want something new eventually. One more thing I would love to mention is that I am sick and tired of seeing single-player content being "bone-dry" to make everyone play their multiplayer more often. All that aside though, if they want our trust back, they will have to work hard like they did in the olden days, and take a close look at their inboxes and Facebook pages, because the Indie gaming scene is already fighting back and winning over the people that have had their hearts shattered with piss-poor sequels and wallet-sucking DLC.

There are people who are a lot worse in this industry than her comments, which was only a suggestion for a certain mechanic; it wasn't like she was saying that she supports blocking used games like a certain company *cough* or another company who likes to re-release games every half year with little to no incentive *cough cough*. Why can't those people go after them instead of someone who didn't say anything bad, let alone being from six years ago.
