You know, everyone keeps wanting to suggest Sony is going to pull one over on everyone. Let's talking about a real concern:
I think it is possible, with all the DRM, XboxOne games COULD be cheaper than PS4 games as publishers price aggressively in the absence of a used games market. That's a true concern I have. I've pretty much decided on PS4, but that's something to think about.
@Acardorin @mlavinder @Shango4 I think am moving on to a different theory. I now think Microsoft agreed to DRM for a different reasons. Perhaps they wanted to have some control over price so they can occasionally do BIG one day sales on games without publishers authorization (sort of like Amazon does on its app store). I just have to think Microsoft wanted to do something crazy and DRM'ing the crap out of the games was the only way to get it.
@GOGOHeadray @mlavinder I said like the Wii. I think it is possible (but unlikely) the Xbox One will appeal to different people that don't traditionally buy consoles. That's all I am saying.
They do have that exclusive deal with the NFL and do you know what football fans pay for that pass on Direct TV? There are some football NUTS out there.
@Acardorin @Shango4 I think Microsoft is likely to respond in some way. How? Not sure. They could come out with a cheaper subsidized Xbox One to draw people in. Or, with the since they have the publishers in their pocket, they could offer a free game or two. They have digital downloads. What if buying Xbox One entitled you to download whatever launch game you want?
They're sucking up to publishers in a HUGE way. It only makes sense if they have something up their sleeve. I mean, I really hope so for their sake. It was just a STUPID move if they don't have something planned.
@elefantas21 I was saying the same thing but it's looking less likely. If Sony doesn't provide a mechanism, I really doubt publishers will do it. At least, not far beyond the DLC and passes they do now.
I think it really depends. If Xbox One doesn't sell AT ALL, publishers won't risk pushing DRM on PS4 in fear gamers won't buy their games. If XboxOne sells well, they're feel emboldened.
@TheGamerPhenom @A_Rabid_Dog I don't know. It depends. The thing I am concerned is non-gamers get it like they did the Wii for the Video/Entertainment stuff.
Microsoft is in deep trouble, but not dead in the water. Also, if they have a subsidized XboxOne that costs around $299 on launch day (providing you pay $19.99 a month for a year or two), that's going to entice some people. Not me, but some people.
