Despite being called a MS fanboy earlier, this doesn't make me want to buy it. Just takes it from "never in a million years" back to "I'll consider it". Need to see what they offer up. Sony did not offer up anything terribly exciting, but did show their focus is games. If Microsoft's focus appears to be split between music, movies, and games, then it's not for me. I want a gaming console, not a $600 Roku.

@Dizzy1976 Agreed. I'd never rent one. I'd buy it or wait for the price to come down. My theory does not equal support for the concept.

@demonkingx5 I am less concerned about having my information sold than I am about my financial information stolen.

Plus, I don't use Skype.

@blackothh Nope. You shouldn't. That's crazy. I've never seen this before, but if this is 100% true, good reason to be paranoid.

But if you are suggesting that it is better to put my all my faith in Sony, the parent of the whole rootkit scandal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_BMG_copy_protection_rootkit_scandal) ...then I guess it comes down to pick your poison.

@demonkingx5 apparently this came across the wrong way. All I said was that Microsoft respected the private information of its customers and treated it correctly. Sony did not. I NEVER said they "cared" for me. Frankly, not their job to care for me.

@1nUrF4c3 nope, not at all. I will be more than happy to but a PS4, but I will buy prepaid cards from Gamestop. Not going to ever let Sony have any of my info.

Give me a break. The whole, "But what if it WAS true..." crap is annoying me. Anyone who says that reveals themselves as the Sony fanboy they are.

And yeah, yeah, yeah...all Microsoft only cares about money. They don't care about the gamer.

If that's true, why has my Xbox Live credit card info NEVER been stolen? Can Sony folks say the same? I am not saying Sony is all about money, but Microsoft CLEARLY had more respect with the financial information of its customers than Sony did. I'd rather my financial information be in their hands then the hands of Sony. Any day. Online requirement or not.

@Mar_Sama And why does it matter? If they responded to customers demands, I respect that.

@grognard I think online requirement might be a way to verify their subscription model. If they are going to let you, essentially, "rent" an Xbox, verifying you've paid your bill is going to require an Internet connection. Don't want that requirement? Pay the full price.

@Dizzy1976 I never made a claim one way or another. It is possibly, I never stated anything as absolute. You did. You're the one that has to produce evidence to convince me you're right.
