Star wars: Force Unleased / More E3 / Xbox Live E3 givings

Some big news announced yesterday was that Entertainment Tonight was going to be the first to show the trailer. Well, I had to work last night so I schedule my DVR to download the show for the night and when I got home from work I watched it. Ummmmm, I guess what I saw was awesome but they didn't even show it to you all the way through and you could hear everything going on in the background. What a ripoff! Do me a favor Entertainment Tonight, stay as far away from the video game news as you can and let the real lovers of video games report the news. Please?

The Sony Conference was awesome! KillZone 2 looks awesome! I loved the first game and this game may be the biggest reason (at least for me) to get a PS3. There are some other games that I like on the PS3 like Warhawk and Little BigPlanet but those aren't the games that make me want to spend $499 on a console.

Mario Kart for the we is going to include online racing and a nifty little steering wheel controller and it looks to totally change the way everyone plays the game. That is the reason to buy the Wii in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I love Zelda, Mario and those types of games and I want to try Super Paper Mario but Mario Kart is where it's at. Also, you can't go wrong with the Virtual Console titles either.

I was watching Gamespot's Live show from E3 yesterday and some of the games that they showed were spectacular! Medal of Honor: Airborne is now one of my top games to get. Although I don't play basketball games the NBA game from 2K looked real. I don't mean that the graphics were super good or anything either...I mean the graphics looked like there were real guys playing the game. Very impessive.

Am I the only person who isnot impressed with what Xbox Live is giving us this year during E3? Last year was so much better. Hopefully they have something up their sleave for later on today or this weekend. Cross your fingers! X

E3 / 360 / Wii / PS3 (video games in general)

I recently wrote reviews for GRAW2 and Call of Duty 3 (both for Xbox 360). I am trying to write reviews for all of the games that I currently own and even the ones that I used to own if I have time. That is a lot of games so who knows how far I will get.

I saw Transformers the movie over the weekend and it is now one of my favorite movies of all time and being a movie buff that is a good promotion for the movie. I wrote my review of the movie earlier this week here. Scroll down to see my review. I can't link directly to my revieweither because I don't know how or Filmspot doesn't allow it at this time. I also watched the Prestige and while I liked a lot of the movie it didn't seem to impress me much. See my review here.

Hopefully I'm going to find some time to play some games tonight. With all the talk of E3 and all the games Microsoft have been announcing it is getting me excited. Halo3 is going to be awesome! The single player campaign footage shown at E3 is spectacular! Bioshock....going to rock! Mass Effect...best action RPG in a long time! GTA IV....exclusive episodes only on 360! Man, it is a long time coming but it seems that Microsoft is finally doing something right for a change. Now if they can just fix the 360 and keep them breaking all the time. I'm already on my second 360 so I know the pain. The 360 is still my favorite though and I haven't given up on them yet. I still recommend it to everyone.

The Nintendo conference at E3 just ended and they announced some cool stuff. Metroid 3 looks awesome! Mario Kart is coming! YES! Not only that but it is going to be online and come with a steering wheel peripheral and I'm not sure if it is a add on for the Wii-mote or if it is a controller in itself but either way it looks awesome!

The Sony conference is later on today so I will have to write about that later.

July 4th / my babies / tonight on TV / games

Before anyone asks, yes I worked last night. Retail is hell and the main reason is because you have to work the day before and the day after every major holiday and have to work every small holiday. So when all of you who are off for the stupid holidays you are usually coming to my store to shop. I did get to hear the fireworks go off though so that was a plus. :D

I have 4 children (animals) that always seem to put a smile on my face. I have three cats (regular) and a chihuahua (full). The cats are named Buffy, Willow and Cordelia and the dog is named Riley. See a connection? Maybe? Buffy ring a bell? My wife kept on bringing them home and the only rule was that if she brings them home I name them so I started with the Buffy the Vampire Slayer theme. Yeah, my wife wasn't too impressed with my theme so by the time we got to the dog, which was the last animal to come to the family, she decided to name him but I insisted on picking from her list of favorite names. Well, as luck would have it, one of the names was Riley which as anyone who knows Buffy the Vampire Slayer lore was one of Buffy's boyfriends. My wife didn't know that so I told her that the name Riley would be his name. It wasn't until after we had got accustomed with the name Riley that I sprung the news on her. (ha) I find it a little more funny that she does.

Tonight is Burn Notice. I am going to try and watch it but trying to watch a show that I like with my wife trying to watch something that she likes usually ends with me watching what she wants to watch. Ug. Some of you guys know what I mean.

I have tonight and tomorrow night off from my second job so that means I will be playing some video games. Our group has been playing a lot of Rainbow 6 lately since the new maps came out so it looks like that is what we'll be playing tonight. I like playing the co-op terrorist hunt but what I like the most is the multi-player vs modes. Unfortunately there are a lot of losers who take advantage of glitches in the game because their low skill level keeps them from scoring any other way but aside from those players it is usually very fun.

I love playing Shadowrun. That game is awesome, challenging, fast paced and super fun all rolled up in one package. I usually play sort of early on Saturday and Sundays so I play with a lot of people from England. They are awesome gamers to play with and make it hard to leave the game when it is time to get off.

The weekend

What a weekend! Just when I thought it was going to be a work filled weekend, it turns out that it wasn't that bad at all. Work went great and I had a great weekend of gaming and I got to watch Ghost Rider......finally (see review for my thoughts on this movie).

While I didn't play GRAW2 at all this weekend I played the heck out of some Crackdown, Rainbow 6, Spiderman and even got a little further along on Killzone for PS2. Yeah, my PS2 had a lot of dust on it but it cranked up just fine. I'm getting close to the end of Crackdown and I can't wait to turn all the baddies back on and kill some more! I love this game and I'm not sure why. I downloaded the new Rainbow 6 Vegas Black map pack (which they are now going to release for free and give everyone who paid for it their points back) and I love the new maps. Could have done without the Streets-Redux map (which is Streets in the dark) but you can't complain too much about something that is, or at least soon will be for those of us that paid for it, free. Spiderman, which is an awesome game by the way, is a very technical game for a superhero game. It's definitely not what you expect and I'm not sure why the reviewers gave the game a "not so good" review.

I'm looking forward to seeing Shooter. I went to my local Target on Sunday with hopes of picking it up but they didn't have one single copy. I couldn't believe it! The movie came out on Tuesday and come Sunday the store had not a single copy. Ug. Maybe next week.

I found a couple of new favorite shows and they are both on HBO. First is Flight of the Conchords is a new show in the same, but different, vein as Tenacious D. Basically it is a half hour series that busts out with funny songs. There really isn't much of a premise to the show other than they are in a band, they are from New Zealand, they like hot women and they sing about anything and everything but it is funny. Second is John From Cincinnati. I have no idea where the show is going but it is funny. Some of the things that are said on this show will have you bust a gut. My wife doesn't get it. She doesn't understand why I watch the show either and while I don't have an answer for that I still find myself wanting to watch the show the next week. Go figure.

Another weekend of work

Yeah, I'm leaving work early today. I have had a bad week and it should only get worse going into next week. Working two jobs is starting to kick my butt and so is not having any free time. Before i go home to relax I have to go by my other job to see my schedule for next week. They are supposed to have it up by Tuesday but of course, why not wait until Friday to see when you work on Saturday? Awesome! This happens all the time and every time it gets more and more amusing. I'm still at work at this moment and will be leaving here in roughly two minutes so I am going to have to cut this short. There is going to be some video game playing this weekend. Rainbow 6, GRAW 2, Crackdown and Battlefield 2142 are going to get a beating! I also hope to see Ghost Rider and possibly Shooter but more than likely it will only be Ghost Rider.

Video game addiction/The loss of a great wrestler and his family

VIDEO GAME ADDICTION:

Who has the right to say what is commonly known as a hobby is an addiction? What do these people know? Odds are that they didn't grow up in the video game age and they didn't grow up playing video games like most of us did so truly, what do they know? They know their kids love to play video games and when they (the parents) want them to get off of the video game console or the computer the kid doesn't want to and therefore it is an addiction. Maybe, just maybe, it really is a hobby. Maybe taking the role of a fantasy character, playing a soldier who has special abilities, flying around as a super hero or driving a car at top speed and just to be that guy that saves the day, maybe even the world, is exactly what a person has dreampt about their entire life and video games make it a "virtual" reality. Video games takes TV one step further and puts a person into the story. The players are in control of what is happening and see the story unfold firsthand as opposed to just watching it. Could it be possible that the reason the person is playing video games is because there is nothing better to do? The most common thing you hear is about how someone is telling a gamer to go outside and breath some fresh air. Why? Are the other things to do better than playing video games? Maybe there is nothing for that person to do outside at the moment? I'm not saying that people shouldn't go outside. I'm just saying that when someone needs to go somewhere or simply wants to go somewhere then they'll do it. Forcing them to do so won't get you anywhere. Is a person who reads books all the time and doesn't want to do anything but read addicted as well? Is reading an addiction? There aren't too many people who read all the time, I understand that. Is that why reading isn't classified as an addiction? Is it because there are millions and millions of people playing video games why playing video games is classified as an addiction? Maybe because it is a lot easier to document that the few people who read all of the time? I am not and don't claim to be an expert or a trained psycologist but it's one thing to say that someone plays video games too much and another to put video gaming up there with caffiene, hardcore drugs, food, alcohol and the likes. Maybe I don't understand but this is just the way I feel. The line for flaming starts to the right.

THE LOSS OF A GREAT WRESTLER AND HIS FAMILY:

I can't believe that this has happened. I didn't know him personally but he provided entertainment for a great amount of people week after week for a very long time. Chris Benoit will go down in the records as one of, if not the best technical wrestler of all time. A sad series of events finds him killing his wife, then child and then himself. It is so sad. It would be sad even if he wasn't a hero to thousands of kids but the fact that he has been a part of many people's lives for a long time in wrestling makes it even sadder. He will be missed by the people who watch the show and he, his wife and his child will be missed by their familes as well. My thoughts go out to his family for their loss. :(

UPDATE: WWE has pretty much forgotten about Chirsi Benoit after dropping a show for him and then finding out that he killed his wife and son. I don't blame them.

Rescue Me....missed/This weekend

RESCUE ME: Of course I didn't get to watch Rescue Me last night! I know I won't be able to watch it tonight either so it looks like I will have to wait until Friday night or Saturday morning. Ug. :?

THIS WEEKEND: I am off from both jobs this weekend so you know what that means? Aside from having to cut my lawn and clean up our storage room a little more and hanging with the wife...video games. Between GRAW2 ,Crackdown and possibly some Rainbow 6 (all on 360) I should be well occupied. I don't get to play much so when I do it is awesome and my online friends are the best so getting to play around and chat with them is always entertaining. Sometimes I wish I could play a lot more than I do but in the long run it is a good thing to only be able to play every so often because when I do play too much I don't feel like playing for a while. A long while.

Also, I plan on seeing 1408 with John Cusack. I read a non-spoiler review and it said that it was an awesome horror movie. The reviewer also said that he hadn't been freaked out by a movie since The Ring and that 1408 freaked him out. That, in my book, spells awesome. Also, I am going to try to see The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. I know what the reviews say but I'm a sucker for Marvel superheroes.

Rescue me...finally/Weekend video gaming

RESCUE ME: I tried to watch the episode since Thursday and could never find any time. I finally watched it Saturday morning before i had to go to work. I loved it! It was awesome and well worth the wait and anticipation. It looks like it is going to be another awesome season.

WEEKEND VIDEO GAMING: I played the heck out of some video games this weekend. If I wasn't at work or my wife was sleeping or off somewhere I was playing my 360. I love the XBOX 360 and other than mine getting the dreaded red ring of death it is the best system at this point and time. There is no better online community than that of the 360. Most everyone is awesome online and other than the few douchebags you'll find here and there it really is a great place to play. This weekend consisted of a few hours of Crackdown (underated game IMO) and a few more of GRAW2 with my online buddies. We beat the co-op sections of the game and are just starting to explore the online versus area of the game. There are a lot of spawn campers (the roaches of the online community) in the game but I think as long as we're hosting and have a good group of our friends in the room we should be ok. I won't get to play until Tuesday because that will be my next night off. :(

No Rescue Me last night...maybe tonight!

Well, I got home last night from the second job and went straight to bed. Hopefully tonight I won't be tired after my second job so I can watch Rescue Me. I was mad but figured that it is better get some sleep and today I am still tired so maybe I should have stayed up and watched the show. Ug!

Rescue Me tonight!

Of course I have to work the second job tonight but as soon as I get home I am watching Rescue Me off of the DVR. The commercials for this episode look funny so hopefully they haven't shown the bets parts on the commercial (like some movies like to do). We shall see. ;)
