Why not bring it into the topic? It's a valid reason.

Zophar87

Yeah, and I don't blame you. But when it comes to having an online distribution/gaming network Live is the only one that charges. Though, what we don't know is, are the Gold funds going into security, faster servers, games? We also don't know how many people were really affected by the Sony hackings CC wise. We can't forget Steam as well as a service, they don't charge as well, but they haven't been breached. While the Sony incident is unfortunate, you have to blame the Hackers more than you have to blame Sony, while of course, Sony is to blame partially for their incompetence.

Then please explain why some credit card info stolen from SoE was sold online.

Zophar87

That's SoE. Completely different from PSN. SoE is Primarily for games on the PC.

SoE is different from PSN? Oh really? Both are owned and operated by Sony. If someone hacked into both XBL and Windows 7 would you not hold Microsoft accountable?

But the thing here is, we're looking at the online gaming service, not a company who is providing servers only for their own games. Most SoE games run P2P servers on their games, but PSN is a network where we get to play our PS3 and PSP games online, sure it's a division in the same company, but it's not what we're focusing on here. I knew someone would play the hacking card in this topic.

Where does the fees the user pays to Xbox Live go? I'm pretty sure the majority doesn't go back into Xbox Live.

Zophar87

And sure as hell doesn't go on games.

It goes to keeping my personal data and credit card info safe. :|

Has it been proven that anyone lost anything from having their CC info obtained from the hacks?

its just blind fanboys defending the system their mommy bought and the service their mommy pays for, any mature gamer who bought their own system and pays for live knows its a damn ripoff. i get the same service from psn for free, and if i want to talk to my friends while they play other games i use a phone.

russiaAK47
Or use Skype for a group. :p

I don't defend XBL nor PSN, because they are basically the same thing.

VensInferno
I'm not defending any service, I'm just disliking XBL's Gold service because you're paying for basically the same thing as any other service, but with extras that aren't really relevant to gaming.

tl;dr: I simply don't get it, please explain

Now before I get started, I'm coming at this issue as a gamer, not a business man, not a fanboy, but as a gamer.

Why is it that fanboys/360 online gamers see in Microsoft's Gold Membership that makes them want to defend the fact that they're essentially paying a monthly/trimonthly/yearly game subscription? I understand that Microsoft is a big corporation, and yes, big corporations love money. But why is it that gamers defend it? Every single other platform this generation, console, handheld, or PC, are free to play online BUT the 360.

Now, before I get accused of not having a 360, and not knowing what is like, wrong. I've just recently got a 360, and I bought Battlefield 1943 with it, to play with some school mates. The only thing I can see different with just playing games online is the fact that Party Chat is involved, that's it, my connection speeds aren't 1000x faster or anything, and if anything sometimes Live parties mess up.

As in another topic on the subject, it might possibly be the UI. Now here is what I like about the NXE, it loads quickly while playing a game, that's about it. XMB is my preference because its smooth, and everything is neatly organized on it, just slower in game.

I don't really see that as worth $60 a year, and it doesn't help that Microsoft advertizes either, even if you're paying for a Gold subscription.

Enlighten me?

This game is just fantastic, if it weren't for some of the technical flaws, this game would be PERFECT. An easy 9.5 from me, I'm really hoping this game doesn't get overshadowed in GOTY awards.

This game really did not deserve a 7.5 from here, it is just injustice, played through the game twice, hell, I feel like playing through it a third time just for the hell of it.

All of the characters, in my opinion are so likeable and have much personality to them. Though, I dont like that Kuo is so demanding, and, well Nix's voice. They also turned Zeke and Cole into much better characters.

This is going down as one of my favorite games of all time, and I havent even toyed with the mission creator!

I disagree majorly with the GS review.

I thought the game was majorly improved over the first, giving you lots to do, giving you very fluent movement, having an amazing soundtrack, and everything.

It has its flaws though: The camera could be better, sometimes I clip through walls, and Cole can be abit too clingy at times.

But overall, I'm enjoying the hell out of it, beat it once with good Karma, I'd give this a 9.5 easily.

Hard Copies 100% of the way for consoles. PC, either or.

For consoles I'm really iffy about digital copies, seeing as they can be delted off your console if the network provider (Sony, Microsoft) sees they need to.
Add that to having a collection of games that you can show off. Being able to bring a game over to your friend's house, instead of your whole console just to play the game, or activating your account on another system.

Plus, x amount of years from now, will the games we have now be avavlible for download on console? Not all of them. It will make the future of retro gaming still have life in it. Not to mention the stupid online passes. (I think the developers should cut off the online pass activation after a certain point in a game's life cycle)

tl;dr PC, Either, Console, hard.
