Hi guys, I'm looking at getting a PS3 and the offer allows me to pick three of the following titles. Looking for some suggestions (and reasons why if possible) for which I should go for.

Mortorstorm
Uncharted
Uncharted 2
Gran Turismo: Prologue
Little Big Planet
Resistance 2
Colin Mcrae Dirt 2
Infamous

At the moment I'm thinking about Uncharted 2, Little Big Planet OR Resistance 2 and Infamous...

Thanks in advance for any suggestions! :)

I'm working an Electrical Engineering degree right now. You'll mostly be dealing with hardware here, you don't focus very much on software unless it's working the hardware you're running. Tons of math and physics required. You'll have to ask yourself what you like better, dealing with the hardware at a very fundamental level, or do you just enjoy getting the most out of computers. If you like the first go electrical, if you like the second maybe go for something programming oriented like Computer Science.Marfoo

This is the best answer on the page; I concur.

I'd go with the Nvida card. One thing I've noticed is that yes the ATI cards do score higher in some games but the problem is they don't have stable FPS. I have a 4890 which gets about 70-100 fps but for the most part it stays at 70fps where the older GTS 250 stayed at 80fps almost all the time. Under stress is where the Nvida cards really shine. -bad company 2

Are you kidding?! A 4890 is far superior to a GTS 250. As for OP I'd suggest the 460 if you have a mobo that supports SLI, otherwise save for the 5870.

Probably Zelda: Minish Cap...

I think my next purchases will be gamecube related but I also want to pick up a Saturn at some point.

Phantasy Star Online v2 (DC). It was awesome in the earlier days, so many players. Very much began my interest in online multiplayer gaming :)

Definitely get it. In my entirely biased view I love CS:S and still think it's got plenty to offer to both the casual and serious player. I would also play it any day over 1.6/CZ.

It's just a shame you missed it the other day when it was really cheap.

Bit of a stretch, but so much better than the 5550's which are pretty prominent in that price bracket. An extra £9 well spent

Probably should have said I'm based in the UK but thought that the fact I was using pounds sterling was a give away. As for the suggestion it's really not what I'm looking for; portability and battery life not really anything to write home about, nor am I really liking all that glossy plastic - though the specs are nice.

what about sony z series.they are made up of carbon fibre.screen size is 13.3inches.theyre pricey but they have gt330m graphics and core i5 processors and good battery life

Yeah. I did look at these for a while but in the end dismissed it as the cheapest option on the Sony website is £1500, nice suggestion though - a really well built laptop from what I can tell.

In a month or so, I plan on buying a 13in macbook pro and I feel it is a good match for my needs. I also know that this forum is pretty renowned for apple/mac hate so basically I'm after some suggestions for what you guys think my money could be better spent on, given my requirements.I'm going to be using the device for some cross-platform application development and basic tasks (web, IM, music etc), gaming is not the focus as I have a more than capable rig - though I might choose to play a few steam games on a rare basis.

I would like my laptop to match the following specification/characteristics:

  • Good build quality - aluminium or similar. Cheap plastics a definite no
  • Portable size/weight. Not looking for anything above 14in
  • Longish battery life
  • High end Core 2 or greater (i3/i5 pref) - currently using a lappy with ULV CPU and wanting something a bit beefier

The 13in MBP ticks most of my boxes and would cost £858 for the basic model with student discount. I would not like to spend too much more. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
