Can't really judge by the ms of the monitors. The Asus is 2ms GTG (grey to grey) which is slower than the normal BTB ms rating (black to black). MS rated in GTG will always show a lower number than a BTB rating, and is just really a marketing ploy. The Acer model doesn't state which is used. As for the contrast ratio, anything over 500 will suffice, but the Acer's is higher, and at a cheaper price.
Asus already has a list of their AM2+ boards that will support the new processors. Check with your motherboard manufacturer if you like to see if you board will support them.
Sooo you're questioning him on why he's considering switching without any benchmarks, but then you assume it's going to be on par with what he already has...
AM3 processors though should work in AM2+ Sockets, however AM2+ processors won't work in AM3 sockets. Found this about a month ago so maybe it's changed, I don't know.
Both. High airflow + low static pressure (weaker fan I'm assuming) = not so high airflow on a heatsink (or any condition where the fan has something behind it creating back pressure).
