@Ape_Escape_1Fan: OK... I can't keep arguing on this topic so narrowly... I need to widen the scope and go on a rant... Consider this your notice. Here we go:
On its face it's not a completely absurd argument. But it's more than a little hard to take seriously, given that I have not heard one single person, in the world, ever, in my life, argue that the legal age of adulthood in the US needs to be raised above 18. i.e. “An 18-year-old can't make their own informed decisions.”
I'm not going to keep being coy about this: It comes down to this, and it's extremely simple: These people want it both ways, and they don't want anyone to talk about the logic/sense of it. e.g. “When I objectify a woman it's OK. When you objectify a woman, we're going to hurt you.” e.g. “Only a woman is allowed to speak about women, unless that woman disagrees with us, then we hurt her.” etc. etc. etc.
I swear I can't stop thinking of Dave Chapelle's trans friend Daphne, and how she killed herself after she defended Dave online. She undermined their claim to power. She betrayed the narrative. Her “people”, her “community”, her “sworn defenders”, turned on her like a pack of wild dogs and ripped her limb from limb. In less than a week she threw herself off a building. Have you seen, what a human body looks like, after just a 20m drop onto concrete? It changes your life. Once Daphne was dead (read: silenced), her beloved “community” simply moved on to the next target. So many young women think they've finally got power because “Women have finally risen up!” and formed a union of sorts. However as you can clearly see, it has nothing to do with your identity at all... That's merely the bait. The arrangement is on the condition, that you do as you are told and don't pull at your leash. They have simply become weaponised tools.
These people keep demanding we say only the words they want, and people keep obliging and apologising for deviating from the script. This is the way they want to keep it. Why complicate things? “You agree with us and only us. This is the law. To question the law, is treason.” Any debate on this topic, is forbidden. I'm dead serious. No discussions allowed. I currently live in China, a country I'm sure you've heard a thing or two about, and what I'm seeing happening in the west right now, well, it horrifies me. Jordan Peterson is arguably the most famous academic intellectual in the world as of this moment, and he can barely even find a university that'll host him. And like he says, “How the universities are, so society will follow.” Fortunately he has found a foothold on YouTube, but how long until one of these people gets into the position of deciding which content violates YouTube's terms of service, deems him hate speech, and “disappears” him? At this rate, it's a matter of time only. And how long after that before they comprise a majority in government and legislate hate speech exceptions to the first amendment? Time will tell.
I'm sorry to drag on so long and sound so alarmist, but as a politically left-of-center observer, this radical cult has infected the minds of hundreds of millions of the upcoming generation across the western world with promises of power (“empowerment”), and it has embedded its tentacles deep, under the guise of compassion and equality. I genuinely believe the very core of western civilization is in so much peril it's hard to even overstate. /rant
But years before that make sure you take off your clothes in front of a film crew and eventually millions of movie-goers and have simulated sex for a huge pay check while you're still a teenager (Match Point, 2005). And years after that make sure you blame the industry for coercing you into it, even though the point is you were a legal, independent adult at the time.
If Johansson and millions of other actresses want to objectify themselves for money, I've got no particular problem with it. What I do mind is the incredible hypocrisy when they give advice to young women.
There's an entire movement founded on the simultaneously co-existing ideas of: 1. A woman isn't an object, and... 2. If a woman objectifies herself it's “empowerment”.
So by definition this isn't just identity politics, it's identity morality, If morality just means whatever you want it to mean, then it means nothing. And we're already there by the way, we just haven't realised it yet.
@Warlord_Irochi: They don't want their readers to know what they're clicking on. If it's an article about FANATICAL then FANATICAL should be in the title. It's deception by omission. Like “BIDEN ENROLLS IN UNI” then you find out it's his grandson or nephew or something. And they do this over and over and over. It's an incredibly slimy trick to be pulling on us at this level. And for what? 0.5% more overall site clicks? 1%? It represents a really profound disrespect and/or contempt for us.
@id0ntkn0w7: . Pro tip: when you're an awful morally-defective person pretending to blend into society as a normal human, frothing at the mouth at the mere mention of empathy, is essentially smashing half your teeth out on the first hurdle. That one's for free. You're welcome.
@id0ntkn0w7: I never said he was a friend. I expressed concerned about him. Then you showed us all how unlikely you think it is that someone would ever care about a stranger. And now we know that you're a sociopath. We're learning a lot today.
@id0ntkn0w7: Of course. Of course someone like you would care only about a person's tangible output, and be permanently estranged from concepts like self-awareness or empathy. After all he's not you, so who gives a s***, right? You can die when I'm no longer entertained.
