@Spartan_418: Even if a 1080p screen cost +$0 for them to produce, they still wouldn't do it. People are just happier realising that 1280x800 is actually really good-looking, and their games run smoother, and their battery life is long. Overall it's just a way more feel-good positive experience.
Give people the option of 1080p and they'll jump straight to it and be underwhelmed with everything. Just my take on it.
@Pyrosa: And I have about 400. But 10yo games are not system movers, as popular as they may be with some. And in regards to your 3080 comment, these systems aren't targeted at the Switch crowd. The Switch people will absolutely not be switching. They're targeted at the PC crowd, which is overwhelmingly not mobile/portable. Meaning a desktop 3080 is probably more appealing to them than this thing.
@Fairmonkey: That's seriously slow compared to an NVMe SSD though. Fine for movies. Potentially restrictive for games. And people already have phones for movies. Anyway, I hope it succeeds, but I'm not seeing it flying off shelves.
I don't know... I still have a hard time seeing this sell. That base model looks like it only exists to be able to put “$399” in headlines. By the time it gets good it's $529, and by that point... well that's real money now. I imagine people will be thinking about PC upgrades instead.
