@gameboy8877: Ah I see.
So you're a big talker until you have to back it up.
Figures.

@gameboy8877: You tell me what it is you think I'm annoyed by in this situation.
Because I'm getting a strong feeling you don't actually know.

@judaspete: Yeah I'd prefer a one-dimensional quip delivery system,
to a bland Mary Sue who's being pushed as an actual character.
Any day of the week.

Also:

“The new compilation of the Tomb Raider trilogy offers updated visuals, controls, and acknowledgment of its more problematic elements.”

Yeah what Crystal Dynamics actually did is say how disgusted they are with the product,
but not so disgusted that they aren't willing to make money off of it.

You blocked comments on the article regarding this blatant hypocrisy last time,
but I guess forgot to block everyone's freedom of speech this time.

The last three of Square Enix's Lara Croft's have been mind-numbingly boring.
Which isn't to say I hated the games. I thought they were solid, if too safe,
but with the possible exception of the first half of the first game,
she's just your typical Mary Sue. A bread sandwich with superpowers.
Almost indistinguishable from all the other “strong female leads”
like Captain Marvel and Rey Skywalker and Wonder Woman and etc. etc.
typical of this modern and incredibly dumb era of feminism we're going through right now.
(I read the other day that Evangeline Lily of Lost and Ant Man & The Wasp fame,
said that if she opens a script now and it's headed with “strong female lead”
she doesn't even read it. Says those characters are just too boring to bother with.)

This Lara doesn't need help from anyone. Practically ignores everyone,
to the degree that when people talk to her
it feels like they're unintentionally talking to themselves,
and when she talks to them it feels like she's intentionally talking to herself.
(Better than Carol Danvers' brand of smug asshole to all male characters, I guess)
Can take out guys with 3x her muscle mass in CQC.
Genius who knows everything.
And if she doesn't know anything, she's always the first to find out,
then everyone else effectively just copies/steals her homework.
Can read the most obscure ancient Mayan hieroglyphs as if they're written in plain English.
Speaks the local language fluently wherever she goes. Can hide in plain sight.
Levels of handy-man hands-on knowledge and practicality that puts McGyver to shame.
You get the idea.
How is this different from, say, Duke Nukem or Doom guy or the thousands of equivalents?
Well because they're not meant to be characters.
They're intentionally one-dimensional quip delivery systems.
Then how is it different from, say, Nathan Drake?
Well because he can make mistakes, and he has a sense of humour about it.
He has a personality, he's entertaining, and he interacts with everyone like they're on his level.

The current Lara Croft has only actually said three things in the last decade:

1. “Wow! Oh my gosh! Look at how magnificent and beautiful these ancient ruins are!
I respect and venerate this culture so much!”
2. “I've got to get to the radio tower! My leg is broken, but I'm a strong female lead, and I know I can do it if I give it my all! Come on, Lara! You can do this Lara!”
3. “Aahhhhh!” “Ughgggh!” “Woooahaah!” “Umph!”
[insert a thousand more various whining and moaning sounds]

Those films are genuinely, bone-fide awful.

What people are experiencing now
is I believe what's referred to as Disney Magic™

So what I'm reading here
is that practially no aspect of the game is actually fun to play.

I don't think the information in this article is accurate.
As far as I'm aware, you only get the first month + 1 credit free,
then you get the second credit “free”
only if you let the auto-renew kick in after the first month,
which costs you money at that point,
then you get the third credit “free”
if you pay the money at the end of the second month.

I've tried this myself.
A one-month free trial is a common thing.
A three-month free trial is basically unheard of.
