Microsoft is seriously not getting how all works, are they? After their previous fallout you'd think they'd be a little more conscientious of their audience. Having to pay a sub to use the system you already bought is silly, and don't bother with the cell phone analogies. Cell phones are a reoccurring service that must be maintained; this is far more like having to pay a sub fee to record anything with the camera you bought. That's why it's silly. And then to further the stupid, they're gating things behind a sub that you ALREADY HAVE A SUB TO, like Netflix?
Well, whatever. I already planned to go for a PS4 a while ago. Still not done being entertained my Microsoft's failures, though.
@SnappySnake @Hurvl I wouldn't allow it, I don't know why anyone would. You create a famous IP, something that YOU put your soul into to make as incredible as it clearly is, and some net nubs decide to leech off your IP rather than make their own? And you're supposed to be okay with that? No. If Square wanted an FF7 movie, they'd make it themselves, and they are completely in their right to tear these guys a new hole. If you have the ability to draw people to donate almost half a mill for a movie, make your own, don't cop out and try to leech off someone else's success just to cement your own. I have no pity for these guys.
It's $50 a YEAR. That's four bucks a month. This is hardly a shocker, I never understood how they supported online play for free in the first place. If it was like an MMO monthly fee, I'd have something to complain about, but I have more money than this sitting in my couch cushions. For me at least, this isn't an unreasonable cost for Sony to ask for.
@Sun-Tzu-GE The person who said they'd leave it up to publishers was speaking for Microsoft, i.e., the XBox 1. This story is what Sony said in REPLY to that, stating their difference in opinion.
Current gen will see games for a short while, but it will be very short and the games won't be what next gen is touting once developers start looking toward it. Hell, the consoles aren't even out yet and already most AAA devs and even some Indie are talking about the games that will be developed for PS4/XB1. PS3/XB360 are already outdated when all of that's considered, they may as well be telling people to go play their Super Nintendo.
I don't think the majority in the comments section quite understands that if this is a deal-breaker for you, chances are you no one wanted you in the game in the first place. You don't have to find that fair, and it's not cramming anyone's beliefs down anyone's throat. Games are a community, and communities have always had to right to choose who is a part of it. Such is life. I'm sure there's a prayer rally somewhere that's waiting to welcome you with open arms and hands.
