@Yondaro @natt39 Then read more than one site. He actually only mentioned one bad thing in the whole review and quite frankly a dip in emersion in a game like this is why the game didn't get a higher score.
It looks like it has promise as an IP. AC was ground breaking and revolutionary but ultimately was very linear and oh so repetitive... AC2 was something truly special. Sometimes developers need a second time around to get it right. I'd like to see a sequel to this to see what it can really do.
@cousinmerl @natt39 This has been true for the last 20 years. You want an example? The disk for a 360 installed game has to remain in tray. A lot of games on the PC have also had this for years. The disk has to be in the tray despite the fact that its basically ripping no assets from the disk.
This is absolutely nothing new, its just packaged differently.
I mean what do you think the L stands for in EULA?
- what happens to my copy when i want to lend to a friend?
They've already said it won't work.
- what happens when i want my family to play on my game? will THEY need their own game licenses? or is it connected to my system
They've said that its connected to a gamer tag but they'd be utterly stupid not to allow local play
- what happens to my license when i sell it on? I've bought the game right? but the next person has to buy it too? surly i still own the license to play it even after the installation and without the game disc?
Legally no, the licence would be removed from your account and you'd forfeit all rights to use it.
- what happens when the servers no longer function to approve my installed game?
Authentication would be done on Live servers not third party servers with a Microsoft system... Can't remember what its called off the top of my head what its called, begins with an A, Allure? Azure? Something along those lines so those servers wont be switched off until long after you've consigned the box to your attic.
- what happens if i don't have internet period? can i still use it at all?
It won't function, no.
- what happens to my my game if the internet goes down (does it inform me?)
The X1 doesn't need constant internet connection to play so I imagine nothing more than "Disconnected from Xbox Live" on the Toast system like you currently get.
- what happens if I've been playing for more then 24hrs without internet, am i bumped off?
Christ knows, Probably
- how does it connect to my TV networks in the UK?
Its a simple HDMI pass through so...
- what TV networks, work with this?
Sky almost certainly as they already have a deal with Microsoft, Others? You'll have to wait for that one. Potentially because its a pass through provided it doesn't break the HDCP link and the encryption software doesn't kick up a fuss (which it probably will) all of them? Virgin and BT will probably drag their heals (closed platform, owned by pissy whiny idiots etc etc) but I can't see any reason why you couldn't use a Freeview HD box.
- what data will be forwarded to TV networks regarding users inputs, does it collect kinect 2.0 facial / voice / heart rate data? watch achievements? do you sell this data on to networks?
Potentially all of it. In the UK though they would have to tell you they were doing this. HDMI can't carry data though so its not going back that way. It'd have to go out via the internet.
- theoretically what safe guards are there to stop the xbox one from being hacked and allowing hackers using the kinect 2.0 as spy ware. (as its on all the time)
It is about as likely as me flying.
- do i need a Xbox live subscription to USE the TV network system? (something our TV's do for free already after buying them)
Oh hell yeah.
- what happens if i buy a game and its got a scratch and doesn't work half way through installing, do i need to BUY a new license? is the DISC invalid?? do i no longer get refunded? like PC games?
If the product is faulty you are entitled to a refund (Sales of Goods Act 1979 ;))
- what happens if my machine breaks, do i loose all these titles?
Its linked to your Gamertag so no
- what happens if MY ACCOUNT is CORRUPT... do i loose all details of my game licenses? will reinstalling my game cause the details to be invalid and i have to buy them again
Recover your Tag just like you do now?
- can i DELETE a title off my account allowing other users to then claim my game as there own WITHOUT having to purchase a account? i no longer have the rights to access the game surely then someone else can
Not if thats not how they decide to licence it (Hint: They won't)
- what happens if i accidentally install it to the wrong account? how do i transfer it - will there be any?
I wouldn't do that if you don't want to jump through hoops.
I dont know, i just find the whole system confusing... if they want people to be ONLINE ALL THE TIME, why not just SELL the games through it and stop confusing users with the physicality issues of OWNING a physical copy that might not work due to license or server issues.
Sony tried it. the PSP Go flopped miserably. It hinder sales. Publishers would flip. Etc. Etc.
@ahpuck Yes because every single patent ever filed results in a finished working product. Nintendo filed a fucking 'brainwave controller for the Wii' 2 years ago, found that it didn't work moved on with their lives. Just because they've filed for protection doesn't mean that they have to use it.
@sacatash @gouki26 You really need to research the structure of that company if you think Activision has anything to do with WoW... Epecially as the Activision Vivendi merger happened several years after WoW launched...
