This is quite probably the biggest innovation to come to multiplayer in a long while! To the people disappointed about the game not coming to the PC, it wouldn't be very fair to the PS3 folk playing with their controllers to go up against the keyboard and mouse brigade would it?
@Kevin-V I understand what you're trying to convey Kevin and I wholeheartedly agree that games are trying to copy it's less interactive brethren each passing year but the fact of the matter remains, unless the controller is firmly in the hands of the player a game's showcasing will be just that--a showcasing.
If you ask me, publications/blogs/game sites should be less concerned with E3's conferences and concentrate more on the showfloor demos that they will actually be in control of as this gives a MUCH clearer picture of the games we are excited about than any celebrity-fueled lightshow game reveal.
I don't know about the rest of you but I highly enjoyed Doom 3 when it launched, it was one of the most foreboding game experiences I'd ever had and the jump scares, however cheap they may be, still managed to make me yelp every now and then...!
Agreed wholeheartedly. Both the PS3 and X360 still have a tremendous amount of life in them, the games still look amazing and any further advancement would be, welcome, but still rather arbitrary since more and more developers are getting getting more out of these "old" systems. Just take a look at CDPR's excellent conversion of Witcher 2 for the 360 or hell, Quantic Dream's Kara demo on the PS3...!
The only thing consoles need to change is their online infrastructure, or to be more precise make them more open. the PS3 already has that advantage to an extent, only the 360 needs to be less prudent about these matters, and I doubt we need an entirely new generation of hardware to rectify that!
