Some of the comments below are border on laughable! Really moldyspud? Does Diablo III really look like a game that would give current gen consoles a hard time technologically? It's obvious that Blizzard is having trouble getting around XBL and PSN's policies with regards to Diablo III's [still rather ridiculous and stupid] online-only policy...

Didn't Jonathan Blow say something similar about PS3/PSN users? Or was it about Sony?

Ah, this somewhat fills the hole left by Grand Knights History's cancellation...

@TheL33T Yes they were solely responsible for the cancellation of Battlefront III but what everyone should take away from this is that a passionate developer with a great track record got closed down due to the greed and neglect of a handful of big publishers...

I highly recommend going through the Eurogamer feature, it wasn't just Lucasarts who are responsible but several others as well, and yes that includes Activision as well...

@azetav I've been thinking the same thing for a while now. Diablo III is starting to sound more like a free-to-play game each day, a free-to-play game that they're charging $60 for!

How does the game plan on retaining its value to the non/casual multiplayer (Lord I hate using this next word) gamer? The original Max Payne games got away from this by having a strong sense of place that myself as a player wanted to come back to time and again but are there any extra incentives in Max Payne 3 such as Red Dead Redemption's 'Challenges' or 'Social Club Challenges'? Also, is 'Address Unknown' being renewed for a possible new season?

Excellent read, nothing which I hadn't realized by myself but it feels good to know that more publications are aware of this fact and are willing to spread it to the masses. I would suggest going through RockPaperShotgun's similarly themed article which also documents an interesting repercussion of this loss of control.

"I am simply a potential revenue stream with an incidental pulse." It took me roughly 2.5 seconds to realize how powerful and true this line rings for today's industry. Its truly a sad state of affairs...

@01_855403 So you're comparing a piece of tech that has yet to be proven of any viable use to playing games with ANOTHER PIECE OF TECH THAT HAS YET TO BE PROVEN OF ANY VIABLE USE TO PLAYING GAMES? Its times like these that I'm glad I integrated GLaDOS's slow clap processors into my computer [CLAP... ...CLAP... ...CLAP].
