[QUOTE="XTy"]where is the wifi in the $500 PS3?[QUOTE="subrosian"][QUOTE="Giancar"]The Sony online service will be amazing....I can't wait to the PSHome beta.... I also agree, where's the HD DVD built in???? or WI FI?subrosian
Okay forget that, for $20 you can get a NExt Generation Format Player...that's awesome. For another $50, you hcan have upgrade that $500 PS3's HDD to 200gigs if you wanted(Not neededuntil Sony has a better service. For gaming 20gigs is just fine, i have a 360 after all for over a year now. 20gigs fine for gamers.)
In the end, the Elite shows consumers that the PS3 is a value, and I don't hate the PS3 as much as I used to do to M$ forgetting to put in HDDVD or Bluray Playback.
$50 for a 200gb laptop hard drive? Oh really? Newegg having a good special or something? I don't want a next gen movie player, I want a game system that's proven it's going to provide hit games, along with a proven online service. At this point I've come to the conclusion that this generation is going to hurt my wallet no matter what I do - so I'm keen on just getting one console and sticking with it. The PS3 does not give me any confidence in its ability to get exclusive games I can actually care about. Instead I keep getting told to "wait" and "be patient" - I've been patient for Elite, how much longer must I wait for this generation to start? Seriously - congrats, you can watch casino royale (excellent movie) over and over again on Blu-Ray, that's great for you, but it's not what I want to do. I want to pretend I'm in Ghost in the Shell while I play GRAW and GRAW 2 like an obsessed loon, I want to play four hour stints of Halo 3 at one in the morning, I want to pilot a MIG in high speed combat in Ace Combat 6 - I want to be a 1000 year old cursed man in Lost Odyssey - I want GAMES and Microsoft seems to be the only person out there right now who gets that. You make some very good points. As of now, thats one of the only things keeping me from switching over to the PS3. This gen I will only be owing one system because of money constraints. For me, I want a system that plays great games and it also a multimedia powerhouse. I love watching high Def movies on my xbox360 HD-DVD drive. It just looks amazing. However, its looking like Blue Ray is going to win out. Furthermore, the PS3 with built in Blue Ray is only 20 bucks more than the xbox360 Elite. It also comes with standard HDMI, blue tooth and other pretty cool featurs. Like I said, I will give it another year to see how things play out. But if Sony can deliver on some really cool games and on online service thats close to xboxlive, I think I will be switching to the PS3. After some serious thought, I've just come to the conlusion that the PS3 was better thought out and planned for the future needs of gamers as well as multimedia buffs such as myself. Who knows how many more times MS will revampe the xbox360 and release a "new and better" version. Makes me nervous. I'm just starting to lose some confidence in MS and the xbox360. I sure will miss Halo!!! Sony and Nintendo have taken to offering "diversions" which is fine and dandy, but it's not my thing. I'm not whatever audience is entertained by playing a graphically-enhanced modifiable platformer with my friends, it's not me.
