With the amount of quality rpg titles and other obsure yet quality ones[Blood Will Tell anyone?] on the PS2, i can identify with you when you look at how much the PS3 doesn't have compared :(. I play all games so im not pissed but i still understand. Tried Enchant Arms?
Best thing on that TV is the Pixel Plus 3 HD. Unless you play that in a pitch dark room that contrast ratio wont mean much. Try get a TV with the 100mhz Feature. For the most part though, that TV is quite nice and i would buy it myself if i wasnt already hooked on another one [just waiting on that paycheck =D]
Ive heard many a 720 v 1080p arguements but ive never "listened" much to them simply because at that time I was way to broke to even consider getting one. Now in the coming weeks I ~will~ be purchasing one and ONLY one to last me for the next 10 or so years[A bit of exaggeration]. Therefore I want to get a 1080p ~noticable~ LCD while still not spending too much. So at what size TV does the differnece between 720 and 1080p become noticable/very noticable?

If GTA looked like viceral crap @ 640p then I would be able to identify with the topic creator of that thread but i can only muster a "He's nitpicking" mental response to the point he was trying to make.

I didn't feel that the comments on various forums that made me make this thread were constructive. I suppose i should rephrase my statement of "forcing opinion" as "unnecessary nitpicking".

Yes Acer can be quite the crap brand so send that sucker back to the store immediatly. Stick to the better brand names indeed [LG, philips, sony, etc etc.] With your budget if you want a decent TV then your goin to have to look at smaller sizes [40" and lower] but depending on the features you want in your TV you may have to stretch that 1K. Note that 1080p on a tv smaller than 40" is a waste as you cant tell the differnece in image quality between 720p and 1080p. Also, unless your going to watch that TV in a pitch black room ignore contrast ratios, anything from 2000:1 and up is good. Things that you do want in your TV is the proper resolutions[1920x1080 for 1080p], response time[8ms or less], connectivity[HDMI, component and composite] and ~most importantly~ the "100MHZ" feature. The 100mhz feature on a 40" is simply put....incredible [vs a 40" or even a 50" running in 50 -60 mhz].
Its important to note that a fully featured good brand name 32"-40" LCD is leagues better than a crappy brand at 42" and up.
*Joins the cave*. Ive recently only been able to muster the will power to go cold turkey on spoilers for all the major games im looking forward to. In moments of weakness I watched a couple TGS vids T_T. So I know a bit too much[ more that i wanna know at this point anyway].
I for one hate spoilers. They totally ruined FFXII for me >.> therefore im SO avoiding everything GTA and FFXIII....till i get me a ps3 and said games.
I think game reviewers have the worst job because of that forced opinion [assuming it doesn't give great amounts of satisfaction] and because of the corporate machine. Playtime is rushed and the "taste" of the game is missed in the same fashion of a food tester throwing back food, bypassing the tongue and going straight to the intestines in order to crap out a review in a timely manner [not to say his/her review is literal human refuse, just an example].
I havent posted in while [since the whole kane and lips/lich/lime/lynch (sp?) ....thingy..] but Ive been noticing a trend for a few months now and i just feel the need to to spend my 2 cents.
Have you ever played a game and totally enjoyed it to the fullest, came on a gaming forum to discuss your love of the game only to see at least one person point out various flaws of that game that totally flew past your judgement simply because you were too busy doing what you spent $10 - $60 to do, which was to play a game, which was to be entertained. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but I hate to see people force that opinion because they wanna sound smart and informed and totally ruin a game for themselves. I think game reviewers have one of the worst jobs ever. Recent case in point; i recently read a thread that basically boiled down to the player cringing everytime he turned on GTA4 simply because he could see thru the low res graphics and the false 720p and was up in arms about the bowl full of empty dreams that MS and Sony sold us at the advent of nex-gen and 1080p. If you cant see whats wrong with that statement then you have missed my point.
