[QUOTE="Final-Darkness"][QUOTE="lawlessx"] what does square getting the rights to the unreal 3 engine have to do with the 360...i cant see the connection.Timstuff
Well they have their "white engine" for the ps3 - what do they need the unreal engine for? Of course this is just a guess and everything we hear are rumors but imho its in the realm of possibility that squenix will make something for 360.

Everyone is liscensing the U3 engine this gen, even if they're not going to use it much. It's another weapon in a developer's arsenal, but it doesn't mean that proprietary engines like the White Engine won't still be used.

I know.  I assume it's going to be used on FF13 and whatever project they have assigned to be released on the 360 will use the Unreal engine.

you should wait a year to make it fair

That's what people buying systems right now see in the stores, or should they wait a year to purchase either system right now?

'Infinite Undiscovery' (X360) - Game Details

This is an epic RPG created by tri-Ace, developer of the big hit series Star Ocean and Valkyrie Profile, and Microsoft Game Studios. Over 10 years of ideas from Yoshiharu Gotanda, the producer of Infinite Undiscovery and president of tri-Ace, will become a reality on Xbox 360.

Various situations unfold in a world that changes in real time, with players’ choices leading to “unknown discoveries.” The advanced technology of tri-Ace combined with the next generation power of Xbox 360 offers an ultimate fantasy world overflowing with realism, allowing players to experience true role playing within a grand story.

RPGs will undergo a true evolution with Infinite Undiscovery.

Tri Ace working on a Microsoft Machine oh yeah, I hope SquareEnix follows their steps, SEriously Tri ACe is a great developper, Their battle system is always great and so is the graphical art. Radiata Stories had an awesome graphics and content also, but Star Ocean 3 simply raised the bar to the maximum with the content. Can't wait for this game seems awesome.

yea it seems every serious JRPG dev is willing to give 360 a serious shot, EXCEPT Square, it's annoying lol

Considering Square purchased rights to the Unreal engine, I'm assuming the 360 will get something good from them eventually.

what does square getting the rights to the unreal 3 engine have to do with the 360...i cant see the connection.

Why would Square spend so much time on the White Engine and then purchase the Unreal one.  The Unreal enging has become standard next gen carrying large 360 titles: GeOW, ME, RSV... Also, Square has already announced that they want to support all three platforms.

Because Wii is being rated as a $250 purchase and PS3 as a $600 one.

I'm still waiting for Sony to announce something.  This may end up being the case in the end, but I'm pretty sure Europe is getting screwed in the short run.

I think all this says, hold off on the PS3 until the dust clears.

[QUOTE="cheatymcshifty"]lol, read the last few posts on the 1st page before anyone makes more posts... It's called investments It's about business, not gaming MS is still going to make consuls, because they think they will eventually make profit (which, they probably will in a gen or 2) Sony is still going to make consuls because they HAVE made a rediculus ammount on theres, billions, and both the ps1 and ps2, far and away the 1st and 2nd best selling consuls in history, both of which started out losing money untill a few years into there life cycle.. even if, somhow ps3 lost money in the long run.. (keep in mind, the ps2 sold worse and then started selling and, went on to turn great profits, sony would make a ps4 and try again.. I like how people think Sony investors will make them stop with playstation the instant they lose money.. you know MS has investors too.. investors understand INVESTMENTS.... if you want to argue businness.. stop playing your video games and go take a business class.RahnAetas

People have invested far more than 1 billion dollars into the PS3.  The 1 billion dollars is the amount they have to recoup to turn a profit.  Sony's gaming division is still losing money, and unless it shows it can dominate the gaming market, and soon, they will end up pulling the plug on the PS3.  Sony is a company which only makes a couple of billion a year.  It's already 1 billion in the hole, how many billions of dollars do you think the are willing to go before they pull the plug?  2?  4?  6?  That amount of money would set Sony back several years.

The PS3 isn't about gaming... It's about BluRay!  If BluRay follows dvd, Sony will make billions.

UK trade publication MCV are quoting UK chief Ray Maguire as revealing the launch figure, though question marks still hang over whether it will be enough. "I think if I go down on bended knee, I might get a little bit more [and] I will try to get as many units as I possibly can," he explained. "But it will certainly be the biggest launch that the games industry has ever seen, in terms of day one numbers into the marketplace."

I agree with his quote, ""But it will certainly be the biggest launch that the games industry has ever seen, in terms of day one numbers into the marketplace."

That's very different with "best launch", as you said.  The European launch can't be considered the best, since it was delayed from an initial world wide launch.

Microsoft made #50 in Fortune Magagazine's 100 Best Companies to Work for in 2007.  Sony didn't make the list.  Discuss.

I'm tired of hearing Euro gamers complaining about the PS3. Sony actually loves you guys more than the rest of us.

1. Sure the PS3 launch was delayed for 3 months, but that just means that you'll have fewer hardware issues because Sony's production and quality control has gotten that much better.

2. If you think you'll be suffering the same console shortages we saw here in the West...think again. Sony has learned not to undership and PS3s will be readily available for you guys. No more PS3 related murders!!! I envy you guys!

3. Yes the backward compatability hardware in American and Japanese PS3s has been removed and your version of the PS3 will have inferior BC support.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/02/23/AR2007022300227.html

But as Sony has stated, you should be happy about it because Sony is focusing on future games, not past games now. Expect great things with the PS3! Sony is looking forward, not backward...up, not down....right, not left. You get the idea.

4. Yes, the price is more than we paid for it in America and Japan, but don't forget that your PS3 version has been redesigned for the future not the past! Sony cares about you so much that you get an upgraded version of the PS3 while the rest of the world is running on 3 month old hardware! Lucky you!!

Xbox_PWNS_YOU

1.  Considering that the PS3 in Europe has a major hardware change, it's not clear if all issues will be avoided.

2.  That's what happens when you charge so much.  If PS3 launched at $300 and $400 models, I'm sure they could go through a million on day one.  Double that and you have people looking elsewhere.

3.  You can't spin that.  The American and Japanese systems will play all the same Next gen games as the Eurpoean model.  Less games is less games, especially when PS2 was one of the best systems out there.  I could forgive them if they were promising upscaling and working towards a full collection like Microsoft did, but they haven't.

4.  The hardward revision just took out the PS2 card so we can can't play our old games.  Lucky us.
