Man you guys are so far off base, it's not even funny.  Yes, there are many PS3 owners that are excited about Oblivion.  But it won't be the same Oblivion 360 users had.  It will have faster laod times and better graphics (this comes from the game's developers).

My pint is that every time I see a thread discussing the two consoles PS3 and 360, a 360 fan jumps in with the game quantity arguement.  My point is that, that arguement is invalid.  That within the year PS3 will have as many blockbuster games as the 360 and will be doing them better.

That's my point.  Get it?

dubvisions

Oblivion is the same game.  It nmay have better graphics and load times, but I doubt people will notice without a side by side comparison.  If you didn't like the 360 version, you're not going to magically enjoy the PS3 version for slightly, (arguable) graphics.

Also, the amount of games has a huge impact when you go into a store.  When someone goes into Gamespot, Walmart, Circuit City, Best Buy, Toys R' Us and see 5 shelves of 360 games and 1 shelf of PS3 games, the easy assumption is that there's going to be more interesting games on the 5 shelves.  Not everyone reads reviews, although if they did, they'd probably still want the 360 games.

This year games like Gears of War, Dead Rising, Viva Pinata, Oblivion, Graw, Rainbow Six, Dead or Alive, PD0, Splinter Cell, Burnout Revenge, Saints Row, F.E.A.R., Fight Night, PGR3, ect. aren't going to suddenly become bad games.  They're just going to be cheaper than the PS3 versions.  For example you can now pick up Fight Night for around $20 now.

A year doesn't make a game obsolete.  IF it does, I guess every game ever released pre2006 is worthless.

Also, the 360 is going to be releasing just as many hits this year as PS3, (more imo).  That means more great titles than PS3, even at the end of this year, for less money.

Why do 360 owners hold the quantity of games in their hands like gold??  Don't they know that will change?  That 360 has been out for a year longer than PS3?  Don't they know this is a normal start for a console with new technologies to develope for?

Why hold on to the fact that 360 has more games when that really won't matter in six months?  The 360 games released between 360's release and PS3's will be replaced and/or obsolete within the year.  What then?

dubvisions

If last years 360 games are obsolete this year, why are PS3 owners so excited to get them this year?

Oblivion

Rainbow Six Vegas

Fear

Splinter Cell

Saints Row

Man the PS2 is still selling more than the 360 and PS3. The Wii is really doing well but I dont think its going to last, what are all those people playing besides Zelda? The lack of games in 2007 is gonna hurt the Wii. The PS3 is also doing much better than expected,$200 more than the 360,no where near the amount of qaulity games the 360 has and they almost even. Once the PS3 launches in Europe I expect the PS3 to start eating away at the worldwide 360's lead of 10 million.

If PS3 outsells 360 by 500,000 units a month, it'll take 18 months to catch up with the 360.

I expect the Wii to decline drastically. MS sold 1.13 million in December while the Wii only sold 604,000. This shows that the demand was not met for the Wii. I still believe that Zelda TP is the only reason for the sales.

You were kind of right, but the console whose demand fell drastically was that for the 360. It dropped nearly 900k from last month. Guess that's why MS projected their sales downward to 12 million in July.

MS had produced enough consoles to meet the demand in December, so you don't have such demand in January. Nintendo failed to make enough consoles, so you still have people waiting to buy a Wii. So, if you look at total sales for December & January, MS wins by 400,000 consoles. This is why I think the Wii sales will decline. Zelda TP fans are many, but not enough to sustain a console.

More like MS flooded the channels with 360s and weren't able to sell them all to consumers. 10.4 million shipped with 12 million projected for July. It just shows the system isn't selling too well and there's no way to spin it. 250k only in Jan? Project that till July and it makes sense why MS lowered their numbers cause the demand isn't there for it. I don't see this changing drastically either until Halo 3. Come on MS, where's your system sellers?

But its still outselling the Ps3. The "better console", right??

But it's not outselling the Wii, aka Gamecube 1.5 as some fan boys like to call it ;)

Well it's much harder to compare.  Wii games don't resemble 360 games and vice versa.  Wii also costs $250, new to the market, and completely different from other systems in the past.

I own both and prefer the 360 route after the intial excitement of the Wii.  I have a feel the same is going to be true, unless 3rd parties start outting in some real effort into Nintendo.

Look at the 360 sales numbers, then stop talking crap about the other consoles.  I'm more of a 360 fan myself, but to go from 1.13 mil in december to what it did this month is PATHETIC.  PS3 and Wii will smash the 360 in worldwide sales soon enough if this keeps up.

That doesn't make any sense though...

360 outsold PS3 in December... January 360 outsold PS3 and anyone who really wanted a PS3 could of had one.

It'd be nice to see the 360 sell more, but I don't think it's going to happen until Halo 3 or a price drop.  The same story is true with PS3 except change Halo3 with MGS4.

Yes. PS2 is one of the best consoles of all time while 360 is one of the worst. 360 simply cannot compare to PS2.-Ramirez-

Why do you own one then?  Or did the thread title confuse you?

I own both too..

Wii:  E3 2006 got hyped in a huge way.  I thought it was the future of gaming.  Unfortunately, the actualy system hasn't quite lived up to the hype for me.

During Wii sports, I found the controller to be less than perfect.  It was fun, but the movements felt sloppy.  Sometimes the game would outright ignore my movements.

Zelda was fun for a while, but somehow I lost interest.  I felt like I was playing it because I had to since it was great game, rather than having to play it because I was amazed with its greatness.  As a 360 owner I thought Zelda looked beautiful but wished it had a higer resolution in the worst way.

Elebits was fun too, but only in short bursts.

I'm now waiting for MP3, Mario Galaxy and Super Paper Mario in the worst way.  At this point, I have no interest in any other games for the system.

That's not to say the I don't play with the Wii at all.  I love the Virtual Console and have spent a lot of time playing old classics I didn't get a chance to when I was younger.  I think the Wii Vote channel and internet browser are fun too.

I've also had 2 Wii's die on me in about a 2 month span.  Nintendo sent me a new system within 2 days but my downloaded VC games were nontrasferable.  I could have kept them, but it would mean having to wait a few weeks for a new Wii.

Xbox 360

I've owned the 360 since July.  I bought it in anticipation for Dead Rising with Oblivion and Burnout Revenge to keep me busy until then.  Very quickly I started collecting a large library of games, loving several of them.  At first I only played offline, but I finally joined Xbox live.  I play Rainbow Six Vegas, Lost Planet and Gears of War constantly now.  Once in a while I still play Viva Pinata.  If Viva let me share my garden with people on Xbox live it would be my favorite game.

The graphics are beautiful.  I own a standard definition television.  I made the mistake of playing the 360 on an HD television and was blown away.  I need an HD now.  I'll get one eventually.  The higher resolution of the 360 is still very apparent compared to the Wii in standard Def.

I can wait  for Mass Effect and Bioshock.  Halo 3 should be fun.  I can't also help but look forward for Eternal Sonata and Blue Dragon year.  Next year I'm hoping RE5 will rock my world.  RE4 was my favorite game last generation.

I've had no hardware issues.

I've seen several mentions to people saying that third party games that only appeared on PS2 will continue to only show up on PS3 since it's the same fanbase.  Clearly games like RE5 show that's not quite the case.

I thought it would be interesting to see how many 360 owners here purchased Playstation games at some point.
