I try to reply to as many responses as I can, but I can't. There seems to be too many people here symptoms of with Blu-ray envy:

1. Denying that Blu-ray is an important feature in the PS3

2. Hating the owner of the PS3.

3. Saying that Blu-ray isn't much better than DVD.

4. Refusing the talk about my main idea (whether you agree or disagree): The PS3 owner impresses the girl the most because he has the most powerful console that can also play the BEST versions of the movies on the market. Stop flooding this thread with personal attacks on me or bring out subject matter that's unrelated to the main idea.

You've used that table of "Blu Rau envy" for every post in this thread.....

It's not that people are "envious" of Blu Ray. It's more the fact that the premise of this thread is pretty damn ridiculous.

What premise do you see, and how is it rediculous? Please explain.

Well, for starters the title alone is a massive face palm. Anyone scrolling through this forum and coming across that is bound to feel nausious. The content of the post then consited of a girl who seems overly obsessed with movies, resolutions, and "teh pow0r". Actually managing to come across a girl who was actually into all of this kind of stuff without having a face that makes green berets cry would be a truely marvelous feat, but in reality not everyone swoons over a PS3 in your TV cabinet because of "teh blu rai". As of then, all you've posted are a list of fatal symptoms to the deadly "blu ray envy" at anyone who finds this post somewhat ridiculous.

Really, nausious? Yet, you stick around? You have the right to find anything ridiculous. But there is nothing ridiculous in the PS3 having the Blu-ray feature that allows you to watch next-gen movies with a girl you like.

She seems obsessed with "technical stuff", yes. That's only to take a few points off from lemmings:) In the end, I did make her more obsessed with financial stability and romance (cuddling).

I didn't say finding my post rediculous is a symptom of Blu-ray envy. Read my symptoms list. You seem to have Blu-ray envy, by the way. Have you cuddled with a woman to a Blu-ray movie yet?

So is that your perspective? You're going to win a girl with movies and money? If that's your perception, then there's something terribly wrong with your thinking, and you in general.

Handheld_Dude91

That is not my perspective. Sure, movies and money HELPS you win the girl. These two alone won't matter unless she's physically attracted to you, finds your personality compatible to hers, etc. My perspective is that having a Blu-ray player is a plus for gamers looking to spend some quality time with a girl.

I'm offended that you've portrayed women here in such a shallow and materialistic way. In your "depiction" here, the woman essentially is offering her body ("cuddles") in exchange for watching Blu-Ray movies.

-

It's also rather odd that the "woman" in your example has no interest in gaming - I wasn't aware that women didn't play videogames - especially since in my own experience most of my "real world" gaming experiences as of late have been with women. Though, since I live with my girlfriend, and most of my friends are women, that would make sense.

-

But what's worse than the TC's post here are just the endless generalizations about women in gaming coming from other posters here. Your ancedotal experiences DO NOT translate to *all women* anymore than Gregory Peck would represent all men.

subrosian

I dont' think the girl I portrayed is materialistic. She did say the guys are very nice. So, if they are all nice, what's wrong with her going for the one who seems to not only have more money but could also share a pastime with her--movies, the best versions there are. I don't see anything wrong with that. Like I said earlier, women are taught through evolution to seek guys who can offer her protection, shelter, food, etc. There's nothing wrong with a women preferring to go with a guy with more money, if all else are about equal. In this case, it's not just equal. The PS3 guy can also watch blu-ray movies with her.

The "woman" actually likes playing games on the Wii. She's just more impressed with the owner of the PS3, for reasons I mentioned above.

I didn't say ALL women love movies or hate games. I offered a likely scenario, meaning MOST women love movies and money. There's nothing wrong with that.

i think that you miss the point entirely tc...most girls do not like video gameslinkin_guy109
If girls were attracted to the hardware I game on then I wouldn't be here. If I ramble off computer specs I usually just get a blank look from people, even other gamers. Can you imagine what would happen if you tried to explain how the Cell works?Tiefster

I am not saying she's attracted to hardware. I said she's attracted to the Blu-ray movies she could watch with you and to the idea that you probably have more money than the 360 or Wii owners.

Sorry, lemmings. Whether you like it or not, Blu-ray in the PS3 is a very big feature. One day, one of you, might find yourself cuddling with girl to a Blu-ray movie. When that day happens, your Blu-ray envy will be cured.

Here's what a girl might say when you invite her to your home, dorm, or private jet:

IF YOU ARE A PS3 OWNER:

Hmm. Your console is the most powerful on the market? Wow, that's so cool. It plays Hi-Def games? That's nice. But I don't like games.

What? It plays Hi-Def movies, too? You got some cool stuff here! It plays Blu-ray movies? Aren't Blu-ray movies the best Hi-Def versions on the market? Awesome. Did I tell you I LOVE movies? I really want to see what a Blu-ray movie looks like...Hmm, it does look a lot better than Standard DVD.

I had a pleasant time watching that awesome movie with you. I am glad you have that machine. You can use it to play games when I am not with you, and you can watch a movie with me when we hang out. Have fun playing your games. CALL ME, Okay? Bye:)

IF YOU ARE AN XBOX 360 OWNER:

Hmm. Your console plays Hi-Def games? Wow. That's so cool. But I dont' like games.

What? It plays Hi-Def movies, too? HD DVD movies? Isn't HD DVD pretty much a dead format? Yeah. It sucks to be stuck with with something obsolete. What movies do you have? Hmm. Sorry, I don't want to see any movies you have. The selection is so small. Do you have a Blu-ray player? There a a lot of movies in Blu-ray I want to see.

Well, have have fun playing your games. Bye:)

IF YOU ARE A WII OWNER:

Hmm. That looks so simple and fun! Can I try? I like it. It's fun. I like movies more, though. You have any movies here? DVD movies? You know there is a format called Blu-ray that's better than DVD? You do? How come you don't have a Blu-ray player? It plays the best verions of the movies! You should get one. I like your console though. Thanks for letting me play your games. I think I like the Wii. Bye:)

AFTER MEETING ALL THE OWNERS:

Hmm. All the guys seem so nice. But that PS3 guy must be pretty well off, having the most powerful console on the market that can also play the best versions of the movies, too. I am definitely more impressed with that PS3 guy. Hopefully he'll call me so we can cuddle at his place and watch another Blu-ray movie.

Cooldude224

Thats awsome and all... but I dont think many people want to hear about your fantasies.

You have a symptom of Blu-ray envy: hating the owner of Blu-ray. It's not my fantasy. It's my way of bringing out people with Blu-ray envy.

I live in a dorm and girls don't care in the least about a game console. Most of them actually tell me to turn my speakers down, and get mad at me when I ignore them while playing games (the nerve!).MCGSMB

Well, on a three-day or more weekend, see if you announce to the people on the floor that you have all the Pirates of the Carribean movies on Blu-ray, the best quality anywhere. If a there's a girl that likes you, she'd go with you. If your room is inviting, I wouldn't be suprised if you several people coming in to see the movies.

As a PS3 owner, I think this thread is ridiculous. Really, I think the Wii wins in this department. You shouldn't need a gaming console to get girls anyway...darkhadow

Oh, I beg to differ. The blu-ray is a very big advantage to have in the PS3. The connection between PS3 to next-gen movies to having an activity you can share with your girl--that's price less. It's not about using the PS3 to get a girl. It's about using the PS3 to share an activity with a girl, a romantic activy at that.
