@superklyph: exactly...they need to hurry up and let us know, because I couldn't handle the last gen Arkham games on consoles. In fact, they were the first games where I was able to witness first hand just how much more improved PC games were compared to consoles. That 60FPS made all the difference in the world for Asylum and City.
Decent enough game on the surface, but there are SEVERAL issues that prevent me from hailing this as a classic alongside the first XC. First off...font is entirely too small for a game that is so incredibly dense with content as far as skill trees, equipment, and all of those unnecessarily detailed sections in the menu. Secondly...the fact you can't relax and enjoy this game with the Gamepad Pro is a shame. Once I found out that using the gamepad's map for probes and just to see the map itself was pretty much a NECESSITY, it ended up being another turnoff or me. Third, the story is truly MEH-city. Uninteresting characters, a mute story-less avatar, and just a lifeless plot overall. Pretty much everything I loved about the first XC was removed in this game.
On the plus side...and pretty much the only thing I TRULY enjoyed in XCX was exploring the vast and absolutely GORGEOUS world. There was nothing in the game that gave me more satisfaction than this, which is also a shame. All in all...I may beat this game at some point, but probably not. Too much of a time-sink that isn't as rewarding as the first XC was. Sure skells are cool,..but you know what's even more awesome (spoiler alert!!!!) finding FIORA rebuilt into a mechon, and landing on the fallen arm of the Mechonis to find an entire civilization of Machina living there....and finally getting to explore the entire Mechonis...only to find that the BIONIS was the badguy all along!!!!!!!!!
The story drove the first XC for me, and is what made me love the game so much. Seeing this abandoned makes XCX seem like a plain ole MMORPG
I mean what it boils down to is...if you're fed up with COD, this isn't gonna change your mind. But if you still love the series, this might end up being one of your favorites. I don't lump the CODs into the same pile though, each develeoper is its own entity IMO. Infinity Ward's games have the most accurate shooting mechanics and no lag, but GHOSTS was the crappiest game in the series IMO. All the maps were a sniper's heaven with their wide open spaces. Advanced Warfare was fun for like two weeks and then I got sick of the acrobatics all the time. But there's something about these TREYARCH games that always seem to pull me back in. Black Ops 1, 2, and 3 have consistently been the most fun I've had with the series. I guess people still hold Modern Warfare 2 in high regard cuz of its reputation but I dare you to try to play that game today. It sucks. Black Ops 1 and 2 are still amazing because of that Treyarch sauce...its timeless IMO. Black Ops 3 is great if you are a fan of those games.
The problem with my PS4, at least right now is...I find that I am forcing myself to play the games on it, regardless of how good they are, just because there's hardly anythin else to play. I just got thru The Last of Us Remastered and now I have nothing else. Honestly, nothing else will ever match up to TLoU but...I have yet to be disappointed with these really good Wii U games. Mario 3d World, DKC TFreeze, Wind Waker HD, Mario Kart, and Smash Bros around the corner?? Even Pikmin 3 is fun. Nintendo never lets me down when it comes to a pure fun standpoint. Kinda mad I bought Hyrule Warriors though...it doesnt suck but I would have been much more happy if I just waited for Bayonetta 2 instead.
Oh well. There are ways to improve the comfort of a 3DS in your hands. Find it yourself I guess. But playing Smash Bros the way my 3DS is set up is a god-send. Love it. Very comfortable.
You HAVE to buy the 3rd party grips for the 3DS. It's essential. Not just for Smash Bros, but to play a 3ds in general. There are several hand grips out there that make the 3ds feel like a console controller. The one I have for my 3DS XL makes it feel like a PS4 controller in my hand as far as the grips part goes. Human hands just weren't meant for a 3DS or XL without 3rd party grips. Look em up people, I don't think I am allowed to post links here on this thread otherwise I would.
@Rod90 that means I need to get it ASAP. It was so unbelievably frustrating to be FORCED to use WAGGLE controls when I have a Controller PRO sitting right next to me. I couldn't BELIEVE they didn't support the controller PRO, being that this was a SNES game. Wii games that force you to use waggle and dont give you any comfortable alternatives are part of what plagued the system...
I will say this. I kinda souped up my PC a couple years back for those ARKHAM games and I was blown away at the consistent 60 FPS, higher texture res and all that other jazz. I have a nice little STEAM collection now also, but I gotta say I hardly EVER play games on my PC anymore. The convenience factor kills PC gaming. Its such a chore, when I can just press one button on my PS3 and fire a game up, chill on the couch and Go.
I do output PC games to my HDTV and I use a 360 controller to simulate console gaming, but even doing all that is a chore by comparison.
Convenience trumps all. PC gaming is not convenient.
