So, as you've probably been able to tell, things in my life have changed a bit. If you are REALLY curious about my LIFE life, I'm single again... due to something that my girlfriend just decided to do, so, yeah.
But other than that, my holidays were pretty fun. Everything went well, and I didn't get a lot, but, that's just fine with me. I DID get ONE thing though, for my birthday, that I hadn't asked for at all.
I got myself a PlayStation 3. Now, if you're like most of my friends, who are all gungho on the Xbox 360, and now HATE me for getting a PS3, well, I'm sorry, and too bad. I like the PS3 better anyways, haha. But, I'm getting off track.
Naturally, what came with it was MotorStorm, since it was the 80 GB. Now, while this game is fun, after the first couple days, and after I got another game, I just haven't really gone back for much after that.
After a couple of days, I decided that I needed to get another game, and I decided on The Orange Box, which is one of the greatest games I have ever played I think. Well, maybe not that far, but it's really good. I've started Half-Life 2, gotten about half way, I beat Portal [naturally], and I'm currently obsessed with Team Fortress 2, as you can see by my newest image collection on my Profile. By the way, I am the epic Medic.
Other than that, I picked up F.E.A.R. off the $30 game rack of Target, which is a great game, but sadly, on the PS3... no one is playing online. And I downloaded the Burnout Paradise demo from the PlayStation Network, and that game rocks. I'll definately be buying it when it comes out.
The one thing that I'm interested and excited for, though, is PlayStation Home, which should be coming out here in Q1 2008. I've only heard and read all of these different things about it, but have yet to have seen anything for myself yet. I really can't wait until it comes out, I like random stuff like this.
And that's really all I have for you today! I do have a new Weblog actually, which I'll be posting stuff from my life, video games, and everything else. It's really a new home for me basically, and I think I'll be using it a lot. If you care about me that much, feel free to visit it and such. Thanks for reading everyone, have a good day, and Happy New Year.

Shying Away

In my life, a lot of things have happened in the past week or so. Unfortunately, not many of them have been beneficial to my life. As you can see by my Xfire Profile banner, I have not played one game in the past week. That is depressingly true, and it sucks. Not even less than one hour of any of the games that I have.
At work, I was demoted. My school hours changed, so I couldn't work when I had to. Speaking of school, due to my crazy work schedule, I fell asleep for the first two hours of school this morning. So I'm home sick today to rest and relax.
I really am really tired. It's a shame, I do more sleeping in my spare time than anything, when there are so many other things I can be doing.
BUT ANYWAYS, there IS one good thing that has come out of this week. My unofficial radio station Weasel Radio was revived, and plays 24/7. It's really cool. If you have some spare time, check out the website and listen in for a bit.
But, that's all for me. Hopefully I'll Blog again soon, but until then, have a good day, week, and the rest.

A Clearing? Jeff G's Saga Continues
by nweasel on Comments
For those of you who pay any attention to my Blogs at all, if you have not listened to the GameSpot PodCast called The HotSpot yet, I HIGHLY encourage that you do. Through everything that has been going on in the past week now, that was the best clarification, as well as they can given the circumstances, that I have heard all week, and it is complete honesty from the GameSpot Staff, who even themselves bashed their parent company of CNET.
Yes, they did not disclose any true information on why Jeff was released from his job at GameSpot, although the official news story posted by CNET today did help clarify some things, which they needed to do beforehand, but, it basically comes down to this fact: It is not GameSpot's fault for this event, it is CNET, so if you have a bone to pick, pick it with the right people.
I was surprised when I heard the GameSpot editors coming out and saying that they were shocked and upset when Jeff was removed from office last week. They were honest with us, and used the technology that they possessed, in this case a PodCast, to let their fans, and family, know how they felt about this situation themselves. I will admit, I am surprised that CNET let this pass, but I am extremely happy for it.
Although I do not want to see a send-off episode for Jeff On The Spot, it is inevitable at this point, and from the way things are looking, Jeff will not be coming back. But I must say that CNET had better begin to explain things better, HR related or not, because the way they have handled the situation this far is probably the worst I have ever seen come from a company that is their size.
I do feel like a family here at GameSpot, and from this day forward, will be visiting the site daily, and participating in everything that I can. I am behind GameSpot all the way, and although I feel that they have some large shoes to fill with both Rich Gallup and Jeff Gerstmann gone, I believe that they will pull through and come away stronger than before.
Jeff, we will miss you. Please continue to visit GameSpot.com. I would still like to read Player Reviews from you at the very least. Thank you everyone for reading.

Outstanding - Another Jeff G. Blog

I will admit to everyone who may possibly be reading this, I have not been the friend that I should be to many of you here on the site. I have not had the time to be here for the most part, and have not given you all the chance. As you can tell by my latest Blogs, I have not been very active, at least in the community of the site as of late. But, as with everyone else on the site, we are all drawn back by one big factor.
Jeff Gerstmann was a huge part of the GameSpot community, just as much as Rich Gallup was. Unfortunately, the major difference is that, while Rich actually walked out himself for new things, Jeff was literally kicked out, or at least so the rumors are showing. More unfortunately is how many rumors are flying around the community. We still have no idea what the actual truth is, only what the media has been passing on to us.
The difference is, instead of owning up to their mistakes, CNet and GameSpot seem to be keeping everything under wraps, and as I've read in a couple of Blogs by Adam B and Greg K, who used to work for GameSpot and CNet, even they are lamenting about this situation. I believe that an explanation is required, so for now, I am keeping my subscription to GameSpot, and am going to continue to support them through this until we find out the true story.
To those of you who are actually reading this, I thank you, and I hope that you may still be staying with the GameSpot website, at least for the Community. This is a rough time for video game Journalism, and I am sure that not only GameSpot is going to get some huge problems over this controversy. But just know this: CNet needs to get their act together and get us some facts, because if they don't, I fear GameSpot's demise.
Best of luck my friends.

Another MMORPG
by nweasel on Comments
So, I have some friends... amazing huh? Haha. Anyways. These friends of mine have been playing a different MMORPG lately, and they really wanted me to try it out. So, they gave me a website and a program that allows me to take a 15-day trial of the game, and so far, I've been surprisingly impressed.
Other than the fact that my computer has a FEW issues with it, it still runs quite smoothly, has a very unique gameplay type and is much different than what I am used to, Guild Wars.
The game I've been playing is: The Matrix Online. Yes yes, a very not well known game, but quite underrated I might add. Not by rating-wise, but with what people think of it. It's actually quite fun and entertaining to play, and the battle system is very unique.
Will this spark me to ACTUALLY *PAY* for an MMORPG for the first time in my life? I don't know yet, but I'm debating.

What To Buy For Christmas?

It's funny. So those of you who know me, know I work at Target. I work in the Electronics department, of course. Lately, the question of which video game system to get has been one of the most popular questions, of course. I had one person yesterday tell me that I helped them make their decision in three sentences. Here's what I told 'em:
·Xbox 360: Out of the box, can only play about 50% of games [roughly, of course].
PlayStation 3: Out of the box, can play about 75% of games [roughly... of course].
·Xbox 360: To play High Definition movies, needs an external $200 HD-DVD player.
PlayStation 3: Plays High Definition Blu-Ray movies with the built-in Blu-Ray player.
·Xbox 360: To play online, needs a $100 wireless adapter, plus $50 for Xbox Live.
PlayStation 3: Wireless card is built-in, and online play is free, plus HOME is coming soon.
So, in conclusion, the PlayStation 3 may cost more right out of the box, but in my PERSONAL opinion, it's more worth it's money than the Xbox 360. :)
That's about all I have for today. Talk to you later! :)

Heya all. For those of you who are still paying attention to this little ol' guy in the corner, hiya. Yeah, I know, it's been a LONG time since my last Blog... almost a month in fact. Well, let's get to that update, shall we?
You know where a great place to get good games for cheap is? The Clearance shelf of a Target. I picked up Burnout Dominator for less than $20. Now, sure, it isn't the best game, but it's original price was $40, and by looking at GameSpot here, it looks as if Best Buy has it for $19.99. So, I didn't get THAT great of a deal on it, but it was still pretty cheap for a new-ish game, in my opinion.
Other than that, I picked up Homeworld 2 again for my computer, which I loved in the past, and still do. I have a bit of the time I've played it on my Xfire profile. I dunno what hit me to get it again, but I'm glad I did. Oh, and I, of course, picked up Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA 2, because I LOVE DDR. Too bad I fell ill as of late, and haven't had the energy to play it.
Other than that, I've just been horribly tired and stressed lately. I got promoted at work, so now I have even more stuff on my plate to do, and they're kind of DUMB there, so if I don't do something, it doesn't get done. Stupid dumb people. Oh well I guess. So, I haven't played much of anything lately, and it's saddening. But, hopefully one day I'll return to the hills of Ascalon to finish off some of those Titles I've been trying to achieve in Guild Wars.
Oh, and final note, stay tuned, I hope to put pictures up of my funny arcade-type setup I've found that works for Time Crisis 3. Later!

Just A Quick Update

Hey all. I know, it's been a while since you've seen my ugly mug around here, eh? Well, that's not necessarily by choice mind you. I work 40 hours a week at my job, and then also have college in between that. I'm also TRYING to game in between all of THAT, so, as you can tell, I haven't had much time to comment on your stuff, or make my own, or do anything on here for that matter. I'm HOPING to try and devote a little bit more time to my friends here at GameSpot after today, so, I'd just like to apologize for neglecting ya'll up until now. Hopefully things will turn for the better! Weasel, out.
