[QUOTE="GD1551"]

I agree, it most definitely is. That's why the Wii got different games to the PS3/360 and why the Wii U gets the same games as the PS3/360. Next generation starts with the 720 or PS4, whichever comes first, we are still in the first HD generation, nintendo is just late to the party.

rjdofu

Nintendo is "special".

i honestly don't get why nintedno fans keep arguing this crap, next generation is marketing word to most gamers it means getting a huge jump in power and othere minor  upgrades, to sheep it means getting a repackaged gamecube and motion controls nobody asked for.

[QUOTE="StrongBlackVine"]

[QUOTE="TheWalkingGhost"]Nintendo should keep making them as long as they keep selling. Zelda and Mario will be million sellers for decades to come.nintendoboy16

Nintendo will be a good third party developer...maybe they could be exclusive to Sony.

So let me get this straight: You HATE Nintendo (and blatantly admit this) with a burning passion, but you WANT to see them go third party, preferably exclusive on Sony consoles?

How in the f*** does THAT make any sense? They'd be better off dead than to continue to serve a community that doesn't have a clue what they want from them (in terms of games), not to mention seeing their IP's suffer on other systems with poor sales (Smash would be outsold by Mortal Kombat/Dragon Ball Z, Zelda would be outsold by Rockstar games, Pokemon would be outsold by Tales/Final Fantasy, and Mario would be outsold by LittleBIG), even their quality and reputation would go down to s*** and their situation would be WORSE than what SEGA (who's already hated enough by their own fans as is ever since) is going through.

keep your eye on the wiiu, none of the nintendo franshises will do over 5 milllion, infact they will see worst then any of the past generations.

[QUOTE="beganoo"]

[QUOTE="Frostbite24"]Firstly I'm saying that generations shouldn't be determined by power and should be determined as they are by console generations. Secondly I'm saying that if you were to subscribe to the logic that generations are determined by power you could make an argument that PC's are at least a generation ahead of consoles. Even if most games are limited because of consoles, games like Crysis 3 being played on PC at the highest settings and with mods are already producing higher graphical fidelity than what will be available on next gen consoles. Tell me where you think I'm wrong and don't know what I'm talking about.Frostbite24

How are they not determined by power ??? Maybe not PC power but its still f*cking POWER.If the PS4 was the same as the PS3 you would just get the same sh*t. There won't be next gen. You call them "cosole generations". So what ? Hardware and power have nothing to do with it because  you call it "cosole generations" ? Are you insane.New cosoles = new hardware = more power = new software= nex gen.It is so clearly defined  by the console power. YOU ARE the one that brought up PC in it for some reason. Why do it in the 1st place, the PC has always been a bit gen ambiguous.The hole point was what a pice of sh*t the Wii U is and how Nintedno are being useless in bringing the true next gen.Your thought process makes 0 sence to me. Again you are the one that brought up the PC.Would it make you feel better if I call it "cosole power" insted of just "power" ?

Where are you from? Where do you live currently? What is your native language? Just curious.

dude STFU already, console generations are defined by power, basically what nintendo did with the orginial wii was launch a repackaged gamecube and added motion controls to get  sheep like you to buy it and call it nextgen, its not.  consoles are basically about power and controller, nothing else, the wii u is a nextgen nintendo system buts not a nextgen console because there is no real leap from ps3/360.

Is there anything good about the Wii U?

yes, it'll be dead soon

catasaurus

LOL if  only nintendo would become third party all i really want is mario and zelda, everything else they do is utter crap from the hardware to controllers, to online community.

The games that will be using 4 or 5 GB of memory and use whatever Durango is running as the weakest GPU benchmark. I'm sure the developers could get those games to run on Wii U if it was worth it, but they will be terrible ports.

StrongBlackVine

So,if they don't,they're not "true next gen games"? Only defined by memory used? :|

That seems to be what this generation will be defined by with both the M$ and Sony console having 8 times the memory of the Wii U. I would like find out exactly how much more powerful they are too, but Nintendo is keepiing that on lockdown...

we have seen the gpu die pics it between 176 gfops to 356 gflops, its on par with curentgen.

games like witcher 3, watch dogs, battle field 4, and deep down will run and look like crap on wiiu, and we still haven't even seen E3, game that take advantage of ps4/720 hardware, will run and look like crap on wiiu, it just not about gpu, itsa about memory bandwidth speed, size of memory, cpu, all those things add up to a generation in differnce in terms of hardware and wiiu games will suffer, thats if it even gets ports.

BS those people that bought wii for motion controls bought it as an impulse buy, they thought it would be a fun way to exercise with family and have fun, most of those people played it, enjoyed it and now are done with gaming, the only games they really enjoy are silly games like wii sports or kinect animals, i could care less for those type of games. and don't care if they cease to exist.

Blabadon

They bought the Wii to play the games on it, played the games on it, and either a) used it for something else besides gaming and/or put it away b) continued playing games like Wii Sports, which is still a damn game and/or went for some other game and system as well. The Wii was an excellent catalyst to gaming for a lot of people.[QUOTE="nameless12345"]

so whats your point?  as you can see by third party support of the wii no matter how many people bought the wii third party's didn't jump in cause they knew gamers werent buying it, people were just buying it for the motion controls and wii sports and now looking at the wiiu nobody is buying cause wii was a fad, get it.

You're entitled to your opinion...no matter how stupid or moronic it is.

The comparison of sales when all is said and done will be between Wii U, PS4, and the Next Xbox. Hence, all are next generation Consoles. Wii U isn't as powerful as the PS4 for sure, but it's still very powerful, roughly 2x as powerful as the Ps3/360. This is just getting old, generations aren't defined by hardware. They're defined by when a company releases a new Console.

You're entitled to your opinion...no matter how stupid or moronic it is. a console released in 2012 can't even run games better then a consoles released 7 years ago and you call very powerful, not to mention we don't know if 2x powerful cause if it was it would running current gen games at a much better rate rate and nextgen can mean what you want it to mean, if can mean same time frame or a huge leap in tech/power thats why you see on the news sometimes they use the word nextgen for tv's or laptops that have a huge leap in tech.

[QUOTE="BigBoss255"]Unfortunately yes, Nintendo actually think that's what a gamer in 2012 wants.Blabadon
You do realize that Nintendo got a huge number of people into gaming through the Wii? A gamer in 2012 may not be a gamer (I use the term loosely) if not for the WIi.

lets look at it this way. the wii was a repackaged gamecube with motion controls, yet it was people call it nextgen, it just doesn't make any sense to me. that why i rather nextgen console be defined by power instead of stupid gimmick that don't really add anything to the gaming experiance.
