They could never rehash a franchise like call of duty with a true casual game like wii sports.

the people wouldnt keep the franchise alive like cod.

nethernova

Lulz. How is Call of Duty not casual? Every non-gamer I know has at least played CoD.

just because casuals love call of duty doesn't mean its not a core gaming experiance, you have tight controls, 60 fps, nice graphics, and good online play, its not focused on gimmmicks, its a core gaming experiance like any othere fps.

next gen is marketing word, its usually means making a huge leap in tech, like tv's. laptops, consoles, or it could mean certain time frame, but for me wiiu is not a nextgen console.

You're jumping to conclusions yet again. There is a chance that what you're saying might be true, but it's not the only reason the console is failing. It's failing because of the terrible marketing pretty much, the high price and the lack of interesting games.

super600

no i'm not jumping to conclusion, you don't go from a console selling nearly 100 million, to its successer selling like a dead system at 299-349$ with maro in months world wide, it just shows most gamers didn't buy the wii and if they did, i guess they found out how inferior it was to 360/ps3.

Unlike the  Wii the WiiU has barely been advertised by ninty. That;s were most of the WiiU's problems lie.

looking at its sales, its more then that, maybe its just not an appealing product.

thats the perfect anaology, you can say the samething for the wii brand, you can't just release a wii2 with more power/ ne features and expect them to come back.

lol casual games dont have multimillion selling franchises like core games.

there is no market the only market is core gamers that buy games and keep franchises alive.

nextgenjoke

well your kind of wrong there is a casual market, but its not type you should depend on, you can try to appeal to them but it should not be the main focus as they will not keep franshiese/ companies alive.

Like I said it's a giant wildcard because if ninty does what I posted above the console will start selling. The sales collapsed because of the problems I posted above especially the terrible advertising. I have seen little to no ads for the console while watching Tv and even when I do see the ads it's that terrible ad that just shows the controller for literally the whole commercial.Who in their right mind would buy a console if they don't know it exists or they get confused because they think it's a Wii accessory. Also the terrible OS speeds affecting the console currently scares people away from the console. And besides ZombiU,Nintendo Land and NSMBU there are not a lot of system selling games currently on the console.

super600

you have no idea whhat your talking about, do you why nobody cares? cause its a successer to console that was utter crap compared to 360/ps3, it was generation behind in graphics, games and online, so you expect gamers to care about wii 2 or wiiu, get real, wii sold cause of a gimmick, not because it was a good console with the best games, get it.

They have to appeal to both to have any chance of getting in first and so far it looks like MS may snatch up both groups.

super600

Ummm consoles arent a race. Casuals dont buy games no sense in trying to make games for them it's like trying to make money from pirates.

Than how did the Wii and PS2 win in the gens they released in.

are you comparing ps2 to wii, are you on drugs, ps2 was a very powerful console for its time, and had the best thirdparty support and tons of games, appealing to casual was not the reason ps2 won.

Their are so many factors that can influence the sales of both of those consoles. It looks like the 720 will attempt to appeal to the core and casuals with avastly improved kinect with a lot of cool features most likely and lots of hardcore and casual games. Sony is attempting to appeal to the core gamers which is not usually a good idea unless they can grab both the core's and casuals.Ninty is still a giant wildcardand sadly most people don;t recognize that. They could potentially take second in the console race if they manage to improve the WiiU's situation. That involves marketing the thing like crazy and properly, improving the WiiU's OS, providing a ton of high quality games and attemptig to court more third parties.

super600

nintenty was a giant wild card but its already failed, serously its selling 130,000 consoles world wide a month, you know bad that is, no way is it taking second place, third party's were not on board before the console even launched, imagine when they see those software and hardware sales. the tablet will never be a hit.

[QUOTE="nintendoboy16"]Yeah, because that Spaceworld demo clearly showed the GameCube had the amount of hype. And yes, I know about the N64's respect among gamers, but it isn't saying that much when PlayStation was flanking it left and right. GameCube, again, hardly anyone cared when PS2 and XBOX came into the game then (both pre and post release), they only care now because it's not the Wii and all of a sudden, it was "hardcore".

super600

yes nintendo made some huge mistakes with n64 like not going  cd and not having any third party support. which opened the door to the playstation brand being the nike of gaming, brand plays a huge role, and if they play there cards right once your the top brand in gaming it really hard to lose it, playstaion brand is the nike of gaming, microsoft has pentrated it cause sony made a huge errors with ps3, and 360 played it card perfectly, while wiiu basically gave up and found a whole new market, but that maket is one hitter and quitter, its not the market thats been alive for 7 gens now. you watch how much better 720 and ps4 sell better then wiiu just cause they are brand for gamers.
